Re: Linares could beat Mikey Garcia

There were already other threads asking who you thought would win between Linares and Garcia. Your response doesn't deserve its very own thread.
I expect Garcia to win. But, I have a feeling it won’t be easy. Just a hunch.SenorPipino wrote: ↑31 Jan 2018, 16:19He finds a way to win against B level fighters.
Garcia ain't no B level fighter.
He's in a class that Linares has never experienced.
To note: what elite level fighters has Garcia faced? Broner... cmon. I expect Garcia to win but he wouldnt wipe the floor with Linares.SenorPipino wrote: ↑31 Jan 2018, 16:19He finds a way to win against B level fighters.

Of course Roach is going to criticize anyone that doesn't stay with him. Good trainer but just like the rest of the elite trainers, they turn into children when boxers leave them. If you cut like Linares and lost big fights because of it, wouldn't you panic at the sight of your blood as well?SenorPipino wrote: ↑31 Jan 2018, 12:05You don't have to love a fighter to recognize his talents. That's somewhat of an immature conclusion.caldo2025 wrote: ↑31 Jan 2018, 08:49 Well it looks like i'll be accepting bets on another fight. Boy i better go get some paper together to cover all of these bets that i'm making.
I love how you all criticize Linares for his lack of opposition and resume but have you even looked at Garcia's flimsy list of foes? Garcia, when not sucking his thumb in the corner about a contract that HE signed, can be found cherry picking titles left and right. The guy is all talk and I can't wait to see Linares shut him up. IF Garcia will ever agree to get in the ring with him. During negotiations recently, Linares gave in to every request by Garcia only to have Garcia run scared and fight some bum with a belt.
This is the kind of person you guys love ha? This kind of boxer entertains you? Not me. I'm the smartest person in the world.
Fans support Garcia because either A) they're impressed with his skills B) Linares appears to be far from an elite boxer or C) a combination of the two.
I feel that Garcia dismantles Linares in routine fashion. Too much pressure and too sharp and accurate with his punches.
Linares has never beaten a true high caliber fighter. He's been stopped on several occasions. All of his defeats have come via KO.
Freddie Roach, who trained Linares for a spell, said that the fighter lacks professionalism, a work ethic and is very lazy.
He also criticized him as a quitter in the ring who panics at the sight of his own blood.
Not a ringing endorsement of Linares.
If all that is true, expect Linares to quit in his corner, as he did against DeMarco, when Garcia mercilessly pounds him for 6 or 7 rounds.
And I don't have to love Mikey Garcia to come to that conclusion.
Mikey Garcia (currently rated 2nd at 135lbs by ESPN) is a three weight world champion, who’ll be attempting to gain another world title in a fourth weight class when he faces Sergey Lipinets next month (rated 4th by ESPN & 6th by The RING), in what will be his sixth world championship bout.
How can a fighter that has engaged in thirteen world championship bouts (almost all of them taking place away from his home turf) and winning world titles in three weight divisions, be considered as being only a level above “ordinary”?SenorPipino wrote: ↑01 Feb 2018, 10:06I simply opined that [Jorge Linares is] just a level or so above an ordinary fighter...
[Linares is] obviously one of those guys who can dish it out but can't handle any adversity in return.

You're entitled to your opinion, but it's extremely harsh, especially in the context of you comparing Jorge Linares to "ordinary" fighters.SenorPipino wrote: ↑02 Feb 2018, 10:07 Because I can be tough on fighters.
I've seen a lot of them over a lifetime and I simply don't tend to gush over every fighter that holds one of a million alphabet belts.
I want to see them beat elite, top shelf fighters, not a host of routine contenders who will be remembered by few 5 years down the line.
Linares doesn't measure up. Oh, he can fight. I'm not trying to give the impression that he's a tomato can.
He's been around for a while and he's been pretty damn successful.
But I don't see elite names on that record. He's been around 15 years, held 3 titles but nary a big name on his record. No superfights.
He's lost only 3 fights in 47. A damn good log. But he's been stopped in all 3. I'm suspicious of guys like that.
Either their chin's not dependable or their heart is questionable when faced with adversity.
Again, Linares is a good, solid professional. He can fight.
But he's not special. If you think he can beat the true top stars in boxing....well that's not the way to bet.
I believe Mikey Garcia is special. Linares isn't. He's at least at a level beneath him.
I'll side with the special fighter every time over the routine brand.
I don't drink Corona. I prefer Negra Modelo.
