for me price needs a lucky punch and i think some ppl have massively overrated his chances of it.

How close do people think Price was to a shot at Wlad if he had beat Thomson in their first fight (which he very nearly did)?

It was clear he was being manouvered into position and was expected to do a better job than Wlad on Thomson to build a rivalry.

Povetkin to win in 4 rounds.

Sky brought him in to commentate on a Wlad fight to build up interest. Price said "I'm nowhere near his level yet", I remember Johnny Nelson saying afterwards alarm bells rang, he should have been shouting he'd destroy him.

You’ll get 3-4 times that price on the Exchanges nearer the fight.

Yes, Price has never seemed to possess any self-confidence, even when he was knocking out domestic opposition. That doesn’t mean he has to trash talk but one should always back oneself...

I think it comes down to getting starched a lot in the amateurs. Camarelle was working him over and had him taking a count inside 60 seconds and had him going again at the end of the round, with the bell coming at the right time for Price. Punched into the ropes in the second and that was it. He was done by Stiverne as well, again the legs went. Fury even floored him. I heard he was down quite a few more times as well. You can't have confidence in yourself when you're continually getting hurt and dropped.

I remember that time he was commentating on the Wlad fight and he looked overawed by the occasion.

Maybe it's down to trainers not giving him the right mental preparation and development. Like I can't imagine a Manny Steward fighter coming in with that mentality. Hearns was stopped by Leonard but he came out like a bull vs Hagler and fully intended on blasting him out in 1 round. You'd never see this kind of attitude from Price.

the am one that stands out to me a lot is when that little indian fellow had him over like 3 times in the commonwealths. now price did come back to win, but i think youve got a point hes just so fragile that it must weigh on him. it takes a special mentality to be so vulnerable physically yet mentally strong.

price in durability makes me think of enzo mac, but enzo didnt have the same big mental issues. he was just unfortunate to not be able to hold his punches, but i felt he tended to fight up to his physical limit better. look at how he got starched like that vs frenkel, and after that badly hurt vs mcphilban, and yet then still come back to take the fight to a dangerman like mckenzie and stop him in a tough one.

maybe with the right mind price couldve had a career more like enzos, where he bounces back after losses. but once dave lost its looked pretty much over. now he looked scared even of kamil sokolowski, who has 1 stoppage in 15 or so fights.

actually one guy of somewhat note i might have given price a chance against not long ago was dimitrenko. dimitrenko has some of the same mental issues with ppl taking the fight to him as well.

I wonder what the realistic odds would be of Price winning a 12 rounds decision. Even if the bookies were offering a million to one, I’d still hesitate putting a quid on him.

Enzo mac never gave up in a fight like price has. I think the thompson 2 and hammer fights got to the stage where he was looking for a way out. Enzo mac was game as a badger in there at all times. Price just always seemed to be wanting in terms of confidence from day 1. The sad thing is I think he was actually gaining that confidence and believing his own hype but then a 45 year old blubbery average heavyweight beats you up twice.. confidence gone forever really.

After being done by teper and given a good hiding by hammer, he must be at an all time low especially with coldwell coming out and basically saying he is a bottler on fight night.

I see this fight as a terrible mismatch which will thoroughly end price as a fighter. What little confidence he has left, if any, is going to be clubbed out of him

thompson maybe but hammer wasnt that badly hurt. looked more annoyed with himself than anything and was soon right back on top

I think we all want Price to win, it's just we are all too well aware of his vulnerabilities.

That's because you are a try hard.

British Heavyweight over a Russian drug cheat 100 times out of 100 for me and i'd imagine pretty much everyone else on here.

The fact he isn't any good doesn't change that.

I'd much rather watch Joshua vs Povetkin than Joshua vs Price.

I don't like huge underdogs winning. Price doesn't deserve this opportunity against Povetkin and I hope that he fails.

Deserving opportunities and boxing don't go together, never have.Fast car wants a highlight reel ko of Price to show off the huge threat that Povetkin is to Joshua and for 80,000 ' fans' to pay for the privilege of seeing it.

Which is all the more reason to want Price to win for me.

Nothing like a plan blowing up in someones face like that.

Like when Cardle took the so called easy option against Barrett to win the Lonsdale outright and got beat.

It'd actually be even better for Hearn though if Price were to somehow pull it off as I reckon he'd sell more PPVs against Price that he would against Povetkin.

Trying to promote a genuinely good fight with a build up fight on the undercard of another good fight.

It's hardly an evil plan is it?

I'm not sure why people would want this to blow up in Hearn's face.
