something like gallimore as high as 4 is so utterly bizarre that i have to think one person has disporpotionate influence on transnational rankings, no chance a big group of experts would each on there own have gallimore way up there. its way too idiosyncratic to be the work of a balanced group

teddys a joker, he has no sustained logic. he ranted on ggg and how he doesnt deserve a p4p ranking because hes fought no one (not itself unreasonable), yet he still managed to rank spence top 10 before spence had even beaten brook, because 'the eye test'. yet he was pretty much slamming everyone else for using the same standard to rate ggg

why is transnational any better then the ring, boxing news, etc in terms of the actual rankings
for example by what measure can anyone think nate gallimore is already the #5 in the world at 154? and he was as high as #4 before.
its pretty sad if a so called group of 50 experts actually agreed on that
They attentively follow the sport, and they're not influenced by money or Politics. They just accurately reflect who are believed to be the best in all the weight classes.
Beating Justin DeLoach propelled Gallimore quite a bit because DeLoach had been on quite a roll, and was poised to be in title shot contention himself If Gallimore had beaten him DeLoach would've likely been highly ranked, but Gallimore got him instead.
I personally rank Gallimore at #13 at the moment, but I mean the guys I have 5 through 10 aren't necessarily DEFINITELY better than him. We'll see if he beats J Rock or not. My hunch is he won't.

Dude...take it easy...watching Teddy when he is breaking down what each fighter needs to do (visually) is awesome! Listening to him rant about fighters off the cuff is annoying. He is well-respected in the fight game. If you don't like him or disagree, that's fine (of course), however; IMHO you are over critical.

actually look at the rankings though, why are transnationals better? not influenced by corruption, etc, is not an argument based on the actual rankings. there not influenced by politics yet have had nate gallimore as the #4 jmw in the world, so what if he beat deloach, thats nothing close to earning anyone a #4 spot in the world.
they have other odd ratings quirks too, not saying any rankings perfect, but theres this whole attitude that there somehow easily the best and most untainted, yet looking at the actual rankings i dont see it.

That quote from Teddy is just something he said on ESPN a long time ago when they first launched those rankings. I guess the people behind it were proud that they got the shout out on TV and have kept it on their main page ever since.

To each their own I suppose. I think they have more integrity in how they're put together than most any other rankings system.
I'm not sure how many people are involved in the actual rankings. I know one of them though, and he follows Boxing as closely as anybody I've ever seen in my f*cking life. I don't know when the guy even sleeps. He knows EVERY fighter. It's ridiculous.

Sure that's all. I wouldn't hire Teddy to work for me, but he is fun to watch and interesting to listen to regardless of whether you agree or not. It's all good.

teddys rating logic is all over the place, when it comes to that hes absolutely a joker. and so when it comes to him endorsing ranking i dont personally find it to put any added value in them

I don't know who's going to win, but Oquendo has been screwed over so many times he deserves a break. Amazing how he's still competing at the top level, though!

Teddy ain't the one doing the rankings. It's an international staff. I've read Eric Raskin's stuff in The Ring, and I know Ken Pollitt, and I can tell you without any question he's as thorough a follower of the sport as is humanly possible.
I don't know if the standard is as high on the other staff members, but if they're as knowledgeable as Ken they know their sh*t.
It's not like they're an "Authority" on Boxing or can sanction bouts or anything. Their goal is to simply provide fans with a clearer picture of who the top guys in the divisions are. A Who's Who in Boxing if you will, and in that I think they do an admirable job.
I have my own personal rankings, and trust me it varies from the TBRB's rankings greatly sometimes, but when you have rankings that come together from a pool of many instead of just a handful of people I think it stands a better chance of filtering out who really belongs, and who doesn't.

Oquendo hasn't competed in years. Hell Tyson Fury is more active than Fres Oquendo. His career in the last 4 years has been purse bid after purse bid for a fight that nobody wants anywhere.

Well, Charr is a top guy, and he fought Chagaev, tho that was almost four years ago.

We didn't speak to Charr. You said he was still fighting at a top level. Did you mean that he is at least coming back against a somewhat tough fighter?

OK, Boogy Woogy, phrase it anyvway you want, but i want to award the victory to Oquendo in advance and skip the fight because i remember all the times he was robbed in the past.

Charr's not even a Top 20 Heavyweight. He's probably not even Top 25, but I don't even bother ranking beyond 20. The winner of this fight basically just puts a target on their back for somebody to come along and grab an easy belt if they want one, or maybe it's so insignificant that none of the serious Heavies even care to fight for it.

There's something about a 45 year old fighter who hadn't fought since 2014, who's supposedly getting a title shot (albeit a very dubious title) that just seems plain wrong.
If the bout ever takes place ( I have doubts) you can be certain that it will fizzle out as a controversial farce.

The controversy is that it's even happening. I figure who does eventually wind up fighting Oquendo beats him. They can't find a corpse dead enough for Oquendo to win a title over I don't figure
