Eubank Jr brags about how is gonna squash Groves but will Jr be in for a rude awakening ?
Re: Eubank Jr brags about how is gonna squash Groves but will Jr be in for a rude awakening ?
I think he is in for a tough night. Both of them are.
I had a look back at Eubanks fight history and I don't think he has faced anyone with Grove's power.
Am I correct?
Can anyone name a harder hitter in Eubanks resume?

AA could bang but was a shadow of what he was and never really let his hands go so not sure if you can count him. Groves will test Eubanks chin and ribs properly.

Eubank? I didn't even know he was still fighting. He was way past his best years ago, but who is the other guy? Jerry Groove is it? Probably just a club fighter with a padded record, hand picked for the old man. Then again how old is Eubank now, like 48? Man that's old, even Foreman was old at that age. Maybe this Jerry guy could pull off a mini Joe Smith Jr.

I am re-watching both of their last fights and I believe this will be an easy fight for Eubank Jr.
Re: Eubank Jr brags about how is gonna squash Groves but will Jr be in for a rude awakening ?
both dirrells and david benavidez are better then brant. brant wasnt even a smw and hadnt really done anything good at mw either.
jesse harts better then brant too.
but as far as long term potential, the dirrells have probably already peaked and hart is what he is now i think, or close to it. but benavidez is very young and has potential to be a top smw though still work to do.

Earlier in this thread, Enlightened-One supplied us with a list of mostly British experts who overwhelmingly predict Groves will beat Eubank tonight.
Just now I perused the PTBF selection and see a complete reversal. Apparently a big 40 out of 60 (66%) here like the favored Eubank to hand Groves his 4th defeat.
So in just a few more hours we will see who the true boxing experts are. Them or us.

Genuinely pumped for this fight. I think it's gonna be a cracker!
I feel like Eubank will eventually get to Groves, but it will depend on Eubank's chin.

Though FWIW British magazine Boxing Monthly ran a poll of fighters / trainers etc for their February edition that came out 20-10 in Eubank's favour.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑12 Feb 2018, 12:23 Here’s a fairly comprehensive list of expert opinions on their prediction for the outcome for the Groves-Eubank Jr. fight... with the vast majority of them favouring George Groves:

If anyone really wants it I'll put up the entire list (too lazy otherwise), but it includes the likes of Derek Chisora, Clinton Woods, Johnny Nelson etc etc.
Just wondering E-O, where did you get the Lee Selby pick from? In the mag he goes for Eubank fairly emphatically. [edit] Also seen Adam Booth lean towards Eubank elsewhere, though he could just have changed his mind.

Bookies too. Going off that list. The bookies should be crying after the fight.SenorPipino wrote: ↑17 Feb 2018, 14:55 Earlier in this thread, Enlightened-One supplied us with a list of mostly British experts who overwhelmingly predict Groves will beat Eubank tonight.

I'm going with the bookies too. There's nothing like having money on something to focus the mind.
Possible scenarios, likeliest first -
Eubank dominates late and wins on points
Eubank stops Groves on cuts
Groves gives Eubank Jr a thorough boxing lesson and wins lopsided decision
Groves scores sensational knockout
All these are possible, and its so tough to call. One minute you see Groves looking far from his best at the weigh-in, the next you remember that if Spike buzzed Eubank Jr in their encounter, what could Groves do?
Both guys are tremendous warriors, good luck to both.

Also, it's important to note that people's opinions often change.
For example: Eddie Hearn initially favoured Eubank Jr., but now seems to opt for Groves.
Finally, the following URL provides Selby's opinion on this matter:
https://www.pinnacle.com/en/betting-art ... XS6E4DAUV6
Lee Selby - Welsh professional boxer and IBF featherweight title-holder since 2015, previously the European, British, and Commonwealth featherweight champion.
At first I thought Chris Eubank Jr, but after seeing the pair up close and head-to-head I would have to go with George Groves.
I think Groves’ size, power and strength will be the deciding factor in a great fight.
Prediction: Groves Points

Late odds list Eubanks as an 8-5 favorite.
Interstingly big puncher Groves is +300 to win by KO. Eubank is +175.
On the decision side, Groves is the longshot to win at +400. Eubanks is +275.
The odds tell us that Eubank will win by KO.
I think he'll take it by decision.

Re: Eubank Jr brags about how is gonna squash Groves but will Jr be in for a rude awakening ?
The cut is making Eubank Jr. gun shy. He's reluctant to fight on the inside due to the bad cut. The longer the fight goes, the more likely Chris gets stopped.SenorPipino wrote: ↑17 Feb 2018, 17:57It looks like you have every scenario covered except a draw (20-1 odds against).Thomastearns wrote: ↑17 Feb 2018, 16:36 I'm going with the bookies too. Eubank Jr. doesn't have one-punch KO power, so he's reliant on Groves tiring, but the fight is being fought at a sedate pace.
It's looking increasingly likely that Groves wins by decision or late referee stoppage, in a bout that hasn't fulfilled its hype.

Re: Eubank Jr brags about how is gonna squash Groves but will Jr be in for a rude awakening ?
I have the fight 60-55 to Groves with only the first round being even, due to both fighters being extremely cagey at the start of the bout.
It's not looking good for Eubank Jr. He needs to force Groves to work at a pace he can't maintain in order to stand a chance to win this bout.
I doubt Eubank Jr. can gain a decision victory with such a huge and obvious deficit on the judges scorecards.

The writing is on the wall. Unless a miracle happens, such as Eubank landing a one hitter quitter, Groves inevitably wins this bout by a proverbial country mile on the scorecards.

And I have the fight close. Groves by 1.
It's getting late. Isn't this where Eubank is supposed to take over?

Unfortunately the cut ruined the fight and prevented Eubank Jr. from engaging in toe-to-toe trench warfare.
