Senior has been a grade 1 knob since his pro days, but this is the Eubank selling point. I very much doubt Sr would have had the career he had if he was a 'normal' bloke.
This is why people love to hate the Eubanks, as much as the Kardashirans'
I'll be honest Mimmy. I think the pre Watson Eubank had the potential to be so much better than he was post Watson.
Just a feeling on my part but I feel he didn't put 100% into his punches after that.
It would have been nice to see Sr mix it with the best in the division at the time but I feel money was his motive for fighting and not really glory in the sense of world titles. I think he was happy with the title he had and exploited it by being a knob and selling seats to his fights.
I'm not saying he would have been beating the likes of Roy Jones and Mike McCallum for example but I dont think he would have embarrassed himself
I'm with you. Jones at that time would have beaten almost anybody in history who weighed between 160-175.
But I'm just talking about Eubank. I must have watched 35 of his fights, several live, and he wasn't the same after that. To me at least.

His Langford comments cost them a fortune in court.
Really? How so?
He pulled out injured after contracts were exchanged, then English went round telling everyone they really pulled out because of the discrepancy in levels and damage Jr would do. Fwank sued, and won.
Good for Fwank I suppose, but I had tickets for that show and no refunds were offered for the public

Eubank snr is an articulate guy. It‘s easy to slag him, it would be harder to actually debate/argue with him.
see whereas i get the impression of a guy whose not actually all that smart (not saying hes stupid) trying to act smart

Just Sr being Sr.
Trying to get in Groves head to make him worry about another dangerous KO which is just mindgames but also trying to influence the referee into an early stoppage the second Jr lands a decent shot which is BS.

Correct sir , always using exorbitant language to make himself appear more intelligent than he really is .
Never did like him , Nigel Benn was the main man in the UK for me from that period in time .
Such an arrogant c**t

Personally I always preferred eubank over Benn myself I picked him to beat Benn first time and while Nigel got some better scalps later I always think eubank would beat Benn 7out of 10 times

Pre Watson Eubank wins 9/10 against Benn
Benn of 93/95 hungrier and smarter than before

I agree.
He speaks in a certain accent with a deliberate, slow, measured tone however listen to what he actually says and a lot of it is complete nonsense.
With regards to debating/arguing with him then you have no chance and you might as well talk to the wall.
I can’t imagine that he has ever said something along the lines of “well actually I think that you have a point there”.
He is kidding the public with smoke and mirrors.

I agree and thought the same about Hopkins when he was rambling on interminably in his pre and post fight press conferences.

No he isn't, he talks bollox and takes 10 miniutes to answer a question that should take 10 seconds.

he is smart enough to make a decent bit of money acting the kunt. eubank jr is now doing the same thing. i suspect they might be decent enough people in private , but when it comes to money they will do anything, say anything, show no repect, for anything or anyone, ..in order to maximise their earnings.
I wouldnt dream of defending the likes of arum, hearn, warren etc, but if the eubanks ever get in a position of power( ie holding the titles and dictating terms) they will have all challengers fighting for minimum wage, getting 2 weeks notice, forced into selling options in future fights etc.
almost everyone says they are impossible to work with( contracts etc) and this is when they dont really hold any cards......if by some reason jr does get to top , the pain will just be begining.

I think the very fact this discussion is taking place speaks volumes for the smart boxing businessman Eubank Snr is. His kid has, in truth, yet to beat anyone of genuine world class yet he found a way into a high profile tournament among some of the elite in a weight category that hadn't even previously been his own, and is now on the eve of a major pay per view fight which is almost certain to attract a sizeable UK buy rate.
As for the comments about the safety of boxers, I happen to believe they are primarily motivated by genuine concern. Those who hold a generally negative view of Senior and/or Junior will inevitably think differently and that's fine but there is no doubt Eubank Snr was not the same fighter after what happened at White Hart Lane in September '91 and the long term psychological impact of being involved in such a tragic event is impossible to gauge for those of us who have never been through anything similar.

Part of a boxer's job is to sell tickets and, in some cases, pay per views. This often has to involve putting on an act to a certain degree. Did Ali not pretend to be something he really wasn't on a number of occasions?

Chris Eubank Snr has constantly been banging on about the Ref stopping the fight and protecting Groves while mentioning Watson, Blackwell etc etc.
Is he right to do this?
Is he a crusader for safer boxing?
Is he just trying to get inside of Groves head?
I've been a fan of his since about his 2nd fight (reading about him in the overseas section of Boxing News) but he's really getting on my tits with this.
Sorry I didn't read this before I voted.
If I had, I would have voted 'knob' - he's not a crusader for safer boxing in anyway whatsoever. He's just trying to
I just voted "Crusader" 'cos I thought it was a cool word for 'not a knob'.
Will take more care in future..

TBH I don't think he is articulate. He tries to be by routinely garnishing what he says with big words unnecessarily - unfortunately, the big words he uses are commonly used in the completely wrong context and/or he doesn't actually know what said words mean!!!!!

Theres a bit in Johnny Nelsons Autobiography where he tells the story of Eubank snr following johnny into the toilets in some hotel, Eubank went into a cubicle and asks a mistified johnny to follow him, which he did, chris shuts the door and starts philosophising about whatever and just before he leaves he tells johnny to learn as many big words as he can because "it drives them crazy". He knows what he is doing does snr.

Loved him as a boxer.
I think he’s a bit sad now to be honest, a shadow of his former self, desperately trying to stay in the limelight and living vicariously through junior. No class, no dignity.
Agree with those who say that he’s far from articulate and talks sh1te most of the time. Long words used willy nilly and enunciated painfully slowly to add some perceived gravitas don’t make a man articulate or intelligent. Journos who routinely compliment him for his intellect are patronizing in the extreme.
Secretly junior must cringe.
