I was trying to recall a fight the other day whereby one fighter is nailing the other and actually tells the ref to stop it? May have been an American fight
Can anyone else recall about whereby this has happened?
Michael Ayers v Wayne Rigby. The first fight

Antonio Tarver vs Eric Harding 2 is another example of this
Tarver hurts Harding pretty bad and has him EXTREMELY wobbly. He drops him twice, and after the 2nd knockdown you can see Tarver shouting at the referee as he's delivering a count to Harding.
Harding gets to his feet a 3rd time, and when the referees asks him if he wants to continue he answers "I'm from Philadelphia" and the action resumes. Tarver lands a few more shots and drops him again to get the stoppage at which point Tarver CONTINUES shouting at the ref "DID YOU WANNA GET THIS GUY KILLED? You wanna get him killed?"

I'm sure Calzaghe asked ref to stop fight against Byron Mitchell.

He didn't necessarily "ask", but he kinda looked over at the ref like "Ain't you gonna stop it?" when he was teeing off on him toward the end.

Eubank did it versus Wharton, who wasn't hurt and firing back!
yes he tried to finish his shift early.
Glad it wasn’t stopped as that was a perfect performance from Eubank from rounds 1 to 12. He did the weight right, and got on with his boxing, something he wasn’t always willing to do.
Last really good performance until he moved up in weight.

As mentioned Holmes Vs Frazier
But also Holmes vs Cobb. That fight Larry said he felt so bad for Cobb
