1% of a £15million purse is £150k...
If there is huge money on the line I've no doubt fighters can negotiate just like any other business deal, i seriously doubt the WBA or IBF got anything like that, 3% is standard but 3% off a few 100k is one thing, 3% of 30 mil is a different ball game.
agreed.
Not a chance Joshua is paying 12% of his next purse for the privilege of fighting for the WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO...

Goodbye to 15% of his future purses I suppose.

If I won all 5 belts I would hold a celebration press conference, bin all the belts and make my own World Heavyweight Championship. Don't pay a penny to anybody...

1% of something is better than 100% of nothing.
its the 5th of 5 belts but its still a belt.
Joshua and Golovkin proudly show it off as did Mayweather and Tyson Fury before them...
If you're looking to win the Tournament as Groves surely is he doesn't need the IBO belt.
he doesn't need it but then again neither does Joshua or Golovkin, yet they keep hold of it.
However minimal, it does add value to his name...
I doubt too many people are aware that Joshua or Golovkin are holders of the IBO titles. Only dyed in the wool fans know any of these Title orgs from one another, and those fans know that the IBO title is already the 5th most important "World Title" in a sport that already has too many World Titles to begin with.

The casuals that have followed and paid to see Eubank jr on ITV PPV believe it is worth something and Groves will be looking to add those same casuals to his fanbase after defeating Jr.
He should have kept hold of the belt...

The Ring title doesn't ask for a percentage of anything does it?

Just keep that one.

It's the best looking and most credible world title anyway.

The casuals would be just as drawn by the fact that he's fighting the World Boxing Super Series Tournament final as they would be by the fact that he had the IBO Championship. More by the fact that it's the Final of a Major Tournament I'd imagine.

If Groves makes it to the final and he enters with the WBA strap. The casuals will be wondering where the green belt he won of Eubank is.

You give the ITV PPV casuals far too much credit.
These people paid for Eubank Jr vs. Quinlan for the IBO Title...

Indeed, but how many of them paid for it because Eubank was IBO Champion? I'll bet that fact caused a grand total of zero people to have any extra interest in the bout than they would've had anyway.

The knew the Eubank name, they got to know the IBO Title over 4 fights.
It does have some value, however small.
Groves should have held on to it imo...
