Parker v Hughie Fury was very close.
Hughie stunk the place out against Parker, and the stench will remain regardless of how Joshua-Parker pans out.

i think it would help at least a bit in how hes regarded. it would suggest he can be highly competitive vs a top 2 hw, which i dont think is the consensus now. can see his chances being seen more favourably vs other hws, though i doubt it realyl would translate to more popularity or money on its own

it would certainly be better then aj blasting out parker and showing the massive difference between himself and hughie

Rising stock ??

Should be laughing stock. The Parker fight is one of the worst world title challenges I have seen.

Ran around the ring all night flicking his hand out.

One advantage of Fury vs Parker is hardly anyone saw it. Perhaps as time wears on it will be called a thriller just like his big cousins performance vs Wlad is now considered a boxing masterclass where he OUTCLASSED one of the greatest champions of all time.... Remember Glenn McCory called the last round for Fury purely because he could give Fury a 1 point win.

He's ugly, he's got no personality, he can't punch, his biggest fight to date was absolutely rubbish to watch, he's a gypsy (let's face it - a lot of people in Britain hate them), he's got a rubbish promoter and he's been tarnished with drug cheat allegations.

Apart from that the lad's set to be a superstar.

Needs to strengthen his body up a bit and learn when to mix up his offence with his defence. He's got the defense side of it down. Just hangs on weather he can get the offence side of things down now. Mainly knowing when to go on the offence and when to stay on the defence. You don't need to be a hard hitter....with the right balance. For a massive step up in parker and his age. It actually was,t that a bad performance by him...just came a bit too soon. Plus exposed his faults a bit too late for it. Still say he can learn loads from it and improve massively from it.
No.

He is what he is, a negative defensive fighter, who doesn't commit to his punches. That's psychological, it won't change.

Don't agree. Think you,ll see a different Huey fury against sexton. Matching parker even fighting negatively without the experience anywhere near top level at 23...is potential. Unlike a lot of people in that division Huey is also skilled. He,s almost there.

He's got the harder things to do in a ring nailed on. Needs to pick up the experience now. Strengthen up. They now know that judges aren't really respecting the boxing negatively on the back foot tactics. They tried to almost nick the belt and tbh its almost worked. His team know what's necessary now. I,d be surprised if we don't see a more aggressive fury. People will say its just sexton but Huey's not really been aggressive will many of them. I,d be surprised if its physiological....they just thought they,d outbox their way to a title.

He has to change it up now....can see him being back at the top table again tho. Talented fighter fury...just needs a slight change of tactics and get that body stronger. People need to remember he was also suffering with illness for a good couple of years. Put him back a good bit.

Does anyone really believe the 'illness' story?

It's an absolutely remarkable coincidence that both he and his cousin have had various illnesses and contaminated meat worries over the same period that they accepted a backdated drug charge...

Gypsies don’t juice though, surely? Most fightingest men of all men etc etc

Seriously though, it is more than a tad suspicious. Accepting drug ban is never an indicator of anything other than guilt is it?

I like Hughie, but he might need a new trainer, or at least someone else in camp maybe. His old man is fine at what he does but he had Tyson fighting negative and Hughie is ultra negative. Being hard to hit is great but Hughie doesn’t have Tyson’s other attributes. He needs to add bits and pieces but not sure Peter is the man for that.
Tyson was involved in some very entertaining fights in his early days ( pre-Peter ) and was always game and getting involved. Peter added the bits Tyson needed in order to win at the top level. Hughie is the opposite to where Tyson was at the same age and is overly cautious.

Until they fail tests, then you have to believe in made up theories.

Until they fail tests they are clean athletes compared to the furies who failed a test, accepted a backdated ban and we're dragged over coals for it.

So was Lance Armstrong clean if he didn't fess up?

I don't believe Wlad or AJ are on drugs that are illegal, but both had such advanced camps there sure to be pushing everything they can to the max which though not illegal now likely will be at some point

There is a big difference. Armstrong there was smoke surrounding him. Lots of journos were questioning what he was doing. Not sure I've seen AJ questioned like that.

Athletes these days at the elite level will all be surrounded by dietitians and suchlike ensuring they're getting the right sorts of supplements. The question is whether this becomes outright illegal, morally dubious (such as Bradley Wiggins recent accusations) or ultimately standard supplements you'd expect an athlete to take.

The accusations aimed at Joshua and Wlad seem to be based on the fact that they're in great shape.

Whereas my thought is more likely he they are all at top level pushing boundaries and every so often (Canelo) one misjudges it. Not illegal but likely morally dubious as you excellently put it.

Experienced people who know what they're talking about don't base their impressions on someone being in "great shape".....

he is a quiet lad but I like Hughie.
Imagine growing up alongside all singing, all dancing extrovert Tyson Fury. Everything he has ever done has been overshadowed.
Beat Sexton, get the Commonwealth and/or European then chase that WBA 'Regular' Title to get in the mix.
I hope the team of Hughie, Peter and Mick can get to the World Title scene again...

He's a talented lad for sure. He'll definitely come again. He must've been kicking himself after the Parker fight because he didn't leave it all in the ring. Has to commit more.
