We're amateurs when it comes to hooliganism, Italy, Russia, Turkey, Greece, Netherlands and Poland are all streets ahead of us, Italian hooligans are absolutely mental and that's not just in football either. Our lot just sing songs and throw a few bottles and mean stares while doing that arms out "fuckin' come on then" stance, Italians throw motorcycles off the higher tiers and murder policemen.

In the 1960's, if Henry Cooper had fought a New Zealander and someone had performed the haka, everyone would have watched and clapped when it was finished. If anyone had attempted to 'boo' it, they'd have got a hard slap across the back of the head.
Does that mean people of that generation were soft, or something. I don't think so. We simply had more respect for others and knew how to behave. We learned that from our parents.
I don't want to get into a political debate but when most men in the country worked in hard physical industries like the pits and steelworks etc they learned a code of behaviour from the older men and after hard work they didn't want to through their money into too much drink, drugs and gambling. Only a personal opinion.

At the Euro's in 2016 you had Russian hooligans with Go-Pro cameras, MMA gloves and gumshields. Genuinely crazy levels of premeditated aggro. Throw in the massive amounts of open racism and a bunch of pissed lads singing 'who are you' at a haka looks like a children's party.

I agree with some parts but plenty of people wasted money on drink and gambling back in the day too. My older female relatives will back me up on that!
If you see the Haka from the 60’s people would be too busy pissing themselves with laughter to do much else!

I think every working class man ended up in the pub back in the day, far more so than now I reckon as most local pubs are either on their arse or gone completely. My grandad who was a joiner said he got most of his jobs from going to the pub, very important place back in the day as that was your social media.

Give the haka lads from the 20s some sticks and put some bells on their legs and we have some morris dancing.
As for being disrespectful? Suppose it is. Personally I wouldn't have booed it but I'm OK with it to a point. If it's just pantomime stuff. If it becomes intimidating to others around it or becomes physical then it enters new waters.
Let's face it, they knew it would get that kind of reaction when they booked it for the weight in. It would be part of the entertainment and it's extra publicity for the fight. They probably even figured that some people would debate it just like this thread has! It's all propaganda at the end of the day.
As for the British people being the worst? I wouldn't say so anymore. There are far worse crowds doing worse things. In Britain the minutes silence is usually very well behaved and if someone starts making noise during it they get told immediately to shut up.

Oh come on, even quite a bunch of casuals have heard about Hughie Fury vs Parker. Maybe they don't know much about his background, but I think the dance they made will make quite a bunch of people talking, which makes the fight bigger again.
I like the fact Povetkin is also on the undercard, it's likely that AJ has to fight Povetkin next, perhaps he could even do it in Russia. The Russians also know how to hype a fight, they are far superior in such things compared to the Americans for example.

You only have to flick through the sun newspaper and daily mail each day to see the racism that is being conditioned into the unwitting and less conscious.
The whole Brexit campaign was run on a narrative that EU foreigners are clueless, rip-off merchants and we can do better without them, on our own. We simply have very little respect for foreign cultures.

What's so wrong with having some common decency and respecting the culture of visiting people, and more so respecting performers who have been hired by the promoter for entertainment?
The Haka is famous the world over and is symbolic of a tough, proud, fighting culture. Those performers were hired by the promotion to give some flavour and added atmosphere to the weigh-in.
What is it with trying to demean anything that isn't English or British? Quite sad really.

I see no reason whatsoever to treak the haka with reverence, it's just a ritual. I don't see why chanting 'who are ya' is an insult to anybody's culture, it's just representative of English terrace culture.
