Yeah he seems to be a really nice guy, and into his boxing. I chatted to him at one of them Steve Bunce roadshows years ago

(Shameless plug) I did a bit with him about the film and the inspiration for it. I've seen it twice now and it is well worth a look: https://www.BS.com/dooley-note ... ew--126703.

Bought the DVD sat, just got round to watching it tonight with me wife, enjoyed it :TU:

Shows you why you should respect all fighters at any level and what they do

Sickening that some lemons who aren't fit to hold a water bottle talk about fighters behind a screen like they could actually do something in a fight themselves

adamwillan wrote: 12 Apr 2018, 19:35 Finally got round to going to see this today. Throughly enjoyed it, both Paddy and Jodie put in great performances, and it had some really touching scenes.

It was quite poignant given the recent events in boxing, and was hard to not imagine of Blackwell and others while watching. It is not a boxing film as you would imagine (blood and gore), but if you are an enthusiast in the industry you will find the story of a fighter interesting/challenging.

On a funnier note, few of the ingle lads are in some scenes (Paddy trained at the gym for the film), Kell Brook is massive in it! I wonder how long ago it was filmed.

Well worth a watch
I’m sure it was 2016 when they were filming fake publicity/weigh in at Doncaster Frenchgate shopping centre. I saw Paddy Considine and Tony Pitts.

Two of my friends messaged me and said, “did you know there’s a Matty Burton fight this weekend?”

Wonderful film.

I think it’s a beautiful little film, I saw it when it at the cinema during its original very limited release.
The telephone scene is one of the finest moments in a film full of very fine moments.
There are flaws and ideas that are exaggerated in order to tell the story, the difficulty the main characters team have dealing with what happens and how they react etc, but it’s a piece of work that deserves to be seen.

That telephone scene had me gulping to fight the tears back mate,a few times in this film i had to fight the tears back. Was worth a watch but from the trailer i expected abit more.

Coincidentally, Paddy Considine tweeted me a get well message when I was in hospital with two bleeds and he must have been working on Journeyman at the time.

Just watched in yesterday. A good movie. I'm not into boxing movies as much as into boxing itself, but that was quite impressive. An original and with a powerful message, so to speak.

Watched it last night. Thought it was excellent. I was stoned though and that tends to get me more involved in a film.

Terrific acting from the two leads. I thought his wife played a brilliant role.

Great music in it as well.

Excellent film. Watched it several times now and impressed each time. As Paddy says in the commentary, the film isn't about boxing per se but its still a great film.

I mentioned on here the other day that I just passed my Seconds interview, well I watched that film the night before the interview and the first question the Chair asked me was 'what is a Seconds job?' and I said 'to help keep the fighter safe' and I knew from the look that was the right answer. Later he asked me 'the fighter has to go to hospital in the ambulance, where are you' and I said 'in the ambulance with him'.

My mum always says to me 'why doesnt this happen/that happen' in films and I always say 'because it would be a really short film', i.e sometimes the story isnt the most likely happening but its what needs to happen to get the characters to a certain place.

Watched it last week, thought it was excellent. Both Paddy and the lady who plays his wife were fantastic in it. Had it been a Hollywood movie, Paddy Considine would be a shoe-in for an Oscar nomination, his portrayal of the brain damaged Matty Burton was incredible. A little uncomfortable and close to the bone when bearing in mind the injuries we've seen over the past few years to Nick Blackwell, Scott Westgarth, Jonjo Finegan, Jerome Wilson, Kieran Farrel and many others.

The guys who played Burton's trainer and his assistant were very good too, it's a situation I imagine happens all too often that fighters are left behind when they have no 'value' to a trainer or promoter any more (I've not read Jerome Wilson's book but have heard this is the sort of thing he mentiones?).

I thought the press conference scene was very well staged too, with the likes of Gareth A Davies and Matt Christie asking questions that you'd expect from a real presser. I thought the addition of Buncey for the 'Evening With..' scene was a great addition too, and he was very good in it.

On a side note - how big does Kell Brook look in it?! Anyone know roughly when it was filmed? He looked like a bloody cruiserweight!!

Oh and someone earlier said they got the belt wrong, referring to the WBO belt as the WBA title - they definitely called it the WBO title.
