Another confirmation of Zurdo being serious:

"We have wanted this fight for over a year. We are ready. Zurdo is always in good shape and is always in the gym. He wants to fight the best fighters out there," said Ramirez's trainer Hector Zapari.

Zapari revealed that Zurdo is scheduled to return to the ring on June 30th but said that they wouldn't have any problem with fighting on May 5th.

"Zurdo is ready to fight GGG whenever and wherever. Just make the fight happen. We have wanted it for a long time and are ready for it. We can fight him on May 5th or June 30th. Let's give the fans a great show," Zapari told BS.com.

I am sure there is probably more to this than is being reported. NSAC probably let stuff slide before but now they have had enough.

If not Canelo, I am only really interested in seeing a fight with BJS or a rematch with Jacobs. I know he has mandatory fights. But as fans, we know we want a huge fight.

Loefler said that Golovkin's May 5th opponent won't be Saunders, Jacobs or that unknown Mexican JMW.

Can Murata be persuaded to cancel his upcoming fight to take on GGG? It would be interesting while it lasted.

Lot of rumours flying around about Spike O Sullivan being the likely replacement come May 5th.

Makes sense from the GGG side as they wait for the big $$ Canelo rematch.

Makes no sense from the O Sullivan side unless the money is just too big to refuse.

Why does it make no sense?

O'Sullivan will easily get the highest purse of his career. HBO is desperate to keep its fight date.

He's not a true world class fighter so the opportunity to fight for a title and a payday in the vicinity of $500,000 + is too good to pass up.

They'll overpay both O'Sullivan and Golovkin so that the date doesn't self-destruct.

Cinco de Mayo cards are always one of the highest viewed events for boxing, even if it involves a guy from Kazakhstan and a relative unknown from Ireland.

Spike is a game guy and $500k is nothing to sniff at. However he also is fairly one dimensional and has never been in with a puncher like GGG before. Better boxers like Jacobs and Canelo resorted to tactics not available to Spike. Spike would go to war, and GGG is the last fighter to try that with.

When you think what nearly happened to Kell Brook, Spike might think $500k is not nearly enough.

Matchmaking is about arranging fights where your boxer wins but learns something in the process. Whatever Spike learns against GGG isn't worth learning.
