+1

I will be a casual fan in this case. Just want to see a star shine once again before it disappears.

It is simple - GGG's (and Abel Sanchez, too) only goal nowadays is "big money".
The only way to get "big money" is fight against Canelo.
The rest is not important, at all.
Martirosyan is only an episode, and I hope he will be paid properly.

Vanes looks tough enough to me. I doubt very much whether Lomachenko destroyed him.

Moretti most likely indulging in pre-fight hyperbole in this case otherwise he might have preferred 'humiliated' instead. Lomachenko is capable of doing that to almost anyone.

Now if GGG had Lomachenko's skills or Lomachenko had GGG's power..

There is no way Loma sparred Martirosyan. That is fake news.

I kinda find this fight interesting. Given styles, I can see Vanes giving G fits. Vanes flashes glimpses of eliteness at times. The first couple times I saw him fight, I thought I was looking at a future dominate champion.

IMO, G is on the slide, and Vanes is no easy out for anyone. This could end up being a very entertaining bout. Technically speaking, I think Vanes is the better boxer. But, G has faced a technically superior boxer before and dispatched of him.

I'm picking GGG UD in a somewhat clear, but competitive fight.

I like GGG a lot, but this is a total bitch move by him and his team. They couldn't find ANYONE decent to fight at 160? I won't even start going down the list, but it would have made sense to have someone like Roberto Garcia at least since it is Cinco de Mayo. What a joke. Reminds me of Danny Garcia and Rod Salka. Guess I will have to call him Cherry G.

160-lbers who weren't in a camp wasn't an option, as they couldn't make weight. Also, money wasn't even sufficient to attract likes of Spike to say nothing of top boxers.

well actually, even though i think they wanted someone soft, and the bout itself is ew, im not gonna hate on team ggg for this

if hed fought no one and instead just waited until the canelo rematch, you couldnt say cherry g etc, but would that have really been any better? just sitting around? i mean he just fought two top middleweights and was scheduled to rematch canelo, so i cant hate too much when it all fell apart not due to him, and hell probably end up rematching canelo next

Does anyone know what they are paying Vanes?
Given what Spike has said, I am guessing it is beer money and maybe a bag of scratchings for later?

He hasn't been in the ring in two years so anything above zero equals more than he has made for a fight in two years.

They should have Martirosyan fight Sulecki and rematch GGG and Jacobs. Probly get two good fights.

Your right, a good performance on the international stage could give His career a much needed boost. My concern is that this is the hurt game, and GGG is a very dangerous guy. The physical risks (in my view at least) demand decent remuneration.

Me too. Would people just rather us lose a GGG fight? Not me. It's a stay busy fight. So what? Vanes shows heart every time out there so sure, why not.

Saunders's gave Murray his word that he would fight him in June.

Frank has offered GGG the fight for September.

Gennady will inevitably carry Vanes Martirosyan, like he did with Kell Brook and Willie Monroe Jr., until the third round before executing his overmatched opponent by dropping the guillotine during the third round.

GGG is likely to become complacent, become defensively irresponsible and also allow his opponent to land most of his own shots, in order to reward his loyal fans by putting on a “big drama show”, because they’ll otherwise feel outraged if he knocks out the Armenian during the first round.

It seems that almost everyone realises that this bout is nothing but a glorified sparring session, so I don’t expect Gennady to ruthlessly exploit the paying customer by forcing the stoppage within the first minute or so. He’ll try to deliver value for money.

It’s likely that many people will subsequently criticise GGG and claim that he’s “looking past-his-prime”, due to their belief that he delivered a subpar performance, because Martirosyan is likely to be (briefly) more competitive than they expected him to be, but mark my words, Golovkin will only look “sloppy” during certain spells of this bout for the sake of entertainment alone.

The fight will last as long as the Kazakh wants it to and there’s nothing that Martirosyan can do about it, since it's a complete mismatch. :TU:
