"I am extremely happy. I said yes as soon as I had the offer! I waited for a long time to get a shot at a world title. I don't want to hear about Adonis Stevenson anymore: I am focused on Sergey Kovalev! I am really motivated, it is a huge fight against a really high-class opponent. Kovalev is right now the best fighter of the division. I wanted to fight in a world championship bout to show my talent and now I finally have the opportunity."
Alvarez expects the contest to be tough, but he's confident in his ability to hand Kovalev his third career defeat.
Kovalev has won two in a row, after suffering back to back defeats at the hands of Andre Ward.
"I know it is a really hard fight, but I will work hard to become world champion. This is my dream. I am a boxer who loves challenge and who performs at my best when I am challenged. I now have what I want. Kovalev is an all-around solid fighter, with a good jab, good technique and a hard puncher, but my trainer knows him well! I have no doubt, I will be the next WBO champion."
Bivol really showing he can box really well.
Of course I was hoping for the big KO, it could come, but I see Bivol learning a lot tonight against the slick Chikemba.
So the feared hard hitter puts on a beautiful display of pure boxing. I'm even more impressed with him now. It was a shutout of a tricky, taller, bigger guy with a heap more experience.
Kudos Bivol.

Chilemba has been in there with many hard punchers including Kovalev and was only stopped when he claimed to have hurt his hand. No one has come close to really stopping him. I think it would be expecting too much to hold it against Bivol for not stopping him.

I hoped for a KO. But I was really impressed by his patience, skill and movement. A great learning fight that will reward him in the future. To shut out Chilemba is as good as a KO in my book. 14 fights in and looking like a top all rounder

Eh, I wouldn't go that far. Impressive win but IMO, It's similar to when Paul Williams shut out Winky Wright.
