Not arguing or criticizing, but he has been KTFO scarily a couple or three times. IMHO he should find another line of work. Now, mind you, we don't know his financial condition and perhaps he has few if any other choices. If that's the angle, it's another story to some extent. I'd prefer, as a fan, for him to hang up the gloves.Horse wrote: ↑04 May 2018, 14:47Price has a shite chin. If it was my family member I wouldn't want them putting themselves at risk of an inevitable shellacking. You're actually happy to see him continue despite him being brittle and absolutely shot to pieces? I knew you were a strange dude Horse but I never had you down as a sadist![]()
He should just fight at his level.
Suggesting that his family need to get involved seems disrespectful to me.

If he was a journeyman who lost in the manner that he did at the level that he did then people wouldn't be calling for him to retire.oogiebe wrote: ↑04 May 2018, 14:51Not arguing or criticizing, but he has been KTFO scarily a couple or three times. He has simply been campaigning at a level too high for him and that has made him look like a fighter that shouldn't continue.
If he fights at his level then he'll be fine.

I guess they get checked out (or at least I hope) with brain scans and such after such a savage ko. You are really correct in that we don't know the entire story here. To be fair.Horse wrote: ↑04 May 2018, 14:59If he was a journeyman who lost in the manner that he did at the level that he did then people wouldn't be calling for him to retire.oogiebe wrote: ↑04 May 2018, 14:51Not arguing or criticizing, but he has been KTFO scarily a couple or three times. Price is a good fighter, but he fights at a level too high for him.
If he stepped up more slowly then he might actually stand a chance at the level his simpleton team seems to think that he should be fighting at.

Re: David Price To Return on 27 July 2018
the problem is horse he has the punch resistance of a low level fighter and hes been heavily concussed several times. he risks being ironed out any time he faces a puncher. the fact he is gun shy makes that more likely.
how much will he earn fighting low level guys who cannot punch?

brain scans arent going to show up neurological damage and brain changes. they only show up obvious brain damage, scarring and brusing from bleeds.oogiebe wrote: ↑04 May 2018, 15:02I guess they get checked out (or at least I hope) with brain scans and such after such a savage ko. Re: David Price To Return on 27 July 2018
If he can convince himself to go second tier and ONLY second tier, I'd be more comfortable, however; by going that route he'll run into Dubois; Rivas; and other up and comers who can bomb. I guess we'll see. You may be right. I just care about the guys who make the sport. No need for taking avoidable risks. I don't like the way he reacts to being hurt.

That is concerning. Yes. Brain changes could be tracked if the freakin' alphabets and athletic commissions can get on the same page.
Re: David Price To Return on 27 July 2018
Wel it wasn't meant as disrespectful. I just happen to think that in a lot of occasions in our sport fighters need saved from themselves and sometimes you need to hear some hard truths from those closest to you to make you realise. I like Price and have followed his career from the amateurs so it certainly wasn't meant as disrespectful.Horse wrote: ↑04 May 2018, 14:47Price has a shite chin. What is his level now? British? He's gonna end up getting hurt if he fights guys like Gorman, Joyce, Dubois or ventures on to European/fringe world level again. I personally don't want to see that. He had a good go against Povetkin. Gave it his all and went out on his shield but it was a nasty looking finish and he can't be taking many more of them.

there are changes to brain function that only occur years after repeated trauma. the exact mechanism isnt known, nor is it something that will show on a scan. its happening to many ex american football players.

When he starts getting starched at that level then there is more of a reason to insist that he quits.
So far he has only really lost at top 20 world level. Which isn't really such a bad level.

dubois would smash price to bits despite his lack of experience. price is waaaay too gunshy, dubois would be given ample time to detonate punches.

He wont beat Joyce, fact. I think in all honesty Price as it stands he is going to carry on should fight someone like Bill Hodgson, Dave Allen or Tom Little no one else unless he wants to start from thre beginning and face the likes of Nathan Stevensjamesmcdonnell wrote: ↑04 May 2018, 15:39i think joyce would be an awful matchup for him.Horse wrote: ↑04 May 2018, 15:34You don't think that he might actually win against the likes of Gorman, Joyce & Dubois?Stuarty wrote: ↑04 May 2018, 15:26What is his level now? Re: David Price To Return on 27 July 2018
A good gatekeeper is a tough experienced, skilled medium puncher who can give up and coming fighters a good amount of rounds where they can learn something. Price is too hard hitting and chinny to fill that role IMO. Guys like Joyce, DD etc will either blast him early or get KO'ed themselves. So not the ideal gatekeeper. I don't know what Price has to offer really. He is domestic #5 for now. I can't see him doing any better than that and I worry about his health.

Price isnt no gatekeepr, he isnt a revolving door keeper either. If you want to class him in terms of gates I would say hes a stable door keeper at the mostKiwiRider wrote: ↑04 May 2018, 15:42 A good gatekeeper is a tough experienced, skilled medium puncher who can give up and coming fighters a good amount of rounds where they can learn something. He has the power to trouble anyone, he showed that against Povetkin but mentally he's not got it and is shot. I think there's more of a chance than him getting hurt against these young, hungry guys than there is of him winning tbh.Horse wrote: ↑04 May 2018, 15:34You don't think that he might actually win against the likes of Gorman, Joyce & Dubois?Stuarty wrote: ↑04 May 2018, 15:26What is his level now?
