I'm not so sure about that,i think Bellew would have a reasonable chance.

Bellew has succeeded in a cool venture. He captured the belt in the cruiserweight division being an underdog, then he challenged Haye for the money fight in the heavyweight division being not favoured again. Some can make excuses on Haye's condition, but those events themselves sound great. Bellew is a man. However, considering Haye's age and decline as a tool for success with Bellew also being not young, the retirement with such bright finish could have been the most appropriate option for Tony. He got his paycheck.

He deserves respect for taking the fight in the first place but Haye was old and injured in both fights.

The thing I just don't know with Bellew is why he stayed down at Light Heavyweight for so long. He has been a monster at Cruiserweight and higher.

A monster?
Did he beat several top fighters when I wasn't watching?
Has he beat a top 5 cruiser and I just never heard about it?
The Cleverley rematch was at cruiser wasn't it? When he monstrously laboured after a one armed light heavyweight for 12 rounds in a shitty fight?

Agree.
Tony calling out Andre Ward tho
He’s retired and two weight divisions lower...
No brainer!
Ward would stop him.

Bellew said 'inside fighters' have no chance against him.
Ward would fuçk him up on the inside..

If he had the balls to fight an Usyk or Briedis or Gassiev you'd see a monster all right. Fucken monster beating.

His best win is probably between Masternak (which was tough) and Makabu.. he won a vacant title. Drozd would have probsbly beaten him..

Didn't he call out Fury too? I'm pretty sure he's dismissed that fight previously on the (accurate) grounds that Fury is way too big and too good.

All the threads on here about haye being crap, haye being shot etc etc, what about bellew and his performances over the 2 fights plus going through a camp when his family was torn down the middle,I gotta say well done Tony and you have made me eat humble pie for about the 5th or 6th time in your career. Not a great fan of him but boy this guy can fight and I can only take my hat off to him, respect were its due and Bomber has gained my respect
I think most people think belles did well and you can’t blame him for Hayes body breaking down but you won’t find a much better run of streak a vacant title vin against
makabu who apparently was very dangerous but never fought outside Africa and a Haye who’s body’s breaking down I have to him credit as I didn’t think he would win either fights but that was a shadow of Haye we’ve seen in both fights
Hello Craig,
He'd fought in Monte Carlo 3 times & also in Luxembourg prior to meeting Bellew.

I do not like Bellew one bit, but he has several times done things I thought he wouldn't. Ward would skin him, but I'd love to see the Fury fight, if only because I can imagine actually backing him in that one

I'm not going to harp on about how brilliant Bellew is nor am I going to put down what he's achieved recently (it's decent but look at it with a clear mind) but he definitely seems to be improving with age. Some fighters, especially students of the game, can do that.
Can he beat Ward? I doubt it but I'd give him a 35/65 chance. That would rise to 45/55 if they fought in Blighty.
Fury? If Fury is 80% of what he was he toys with Bellew.
Tony is in one of those positions where he doesn't need a regular fight. His name means money at the moment so they'll be looking to cash in with a big bout.
The only other name I can see bringing a decent amount for both fighters would be Dillian.

If Bellew fights again at Cruiser do you think losing the 12 or so pounds will affect him? He'll be about 36 by the time he fights again & won't have fought at 200 for two years.

You don’t class the top 5 as the elite? Who is elite, the top 2, top 1?
Also. I'd be curious to know what he means by Top 5. Top 5 what? Surely not a Top 5 Heavyweight?
Cruiser
Even though fight was at heavy, he was basically fighting another blown up cruiserweight.
He'd get smushed against the bigger heavies.
Yeah I agree. He'd make an interesting opponent for the WBSS winner, and yeah I can't see him having any success against the bigger Heavyweights.

bellew isnt a monster at cruiser, hes probably close to top 5 there but i wouldnt even rate him in the top tier at the weight. he was one round off drawing with masternak and hasnt been in with a real top guy there.
but cruiser i think is where hes best suited. hes a handy fighter there no doubt with good power and sharp punches, and would be a good win for any cruiser. i really want him to fight the wbss winner. give it the hype machine treatment and lets have another big cruiser fight. theyd have his old belt presumably and it would be a good fight for the division to have a big fight like that. usyk for sure wouldnt have a problem coming to the uk.
but of course hw money is much bigger with the right fights.

Bellow is a good boxer , a very good boxer , but is he elite world level or been lucky , I think its a mixture of luck and good management , jumped up and down divisions and got himself the better fights titles, and money , and up till now is unscsathed so good on him ,
Congrats on his win , he was confident and proved correct , he knows his boxing and done his homework , BUT letrs not get to carried away here , I watched the fight and Haye was all over the place , , I could'nt help but think if i was training a raw novice , and he had footwork like Haye , I would'nt let him fight until he improved .
Bellow beat a name not a good or great fighter
I think Hearn deserves credit too. He‘s great at delivering opportunities to his fighters. Give him an inch and he gives them a mile.

I've warmed to Bellew because he was straight up & honest.
He said from the outset that he would have been no match for peak Haye, but Haye 2017/18 was a broken down old man who is only fighting for the money.
He said he knew what it would take to beat Haye & he did it.
He said it was purely about the payday & unlike Haye, he didn't try to con the public.
Well done to him & all that, but I hope he doesn't get delusions of grandeur & start thinking that he might have a chance against the big boys in the HW division, because he wouldn't.
He's 35 now & has just earned two nice big paydays.
He can retire as WBS Cruiserweight Champion Emeritus & tell his grandchildren how he retired as a 'champion' & exposed & ended the career of David Haye.

I wonder how the board would react if Bellew somehow beat Usyk.
Probably say Usyyk was a hype job and hadn't beaten anyone that good.

hard win to knock if hes facing usyk the olympic gold medalist for the undisputed cruiser title. thats a world away from beating makabu or masternak, who were both still decent wins btw.
youd have an unarguably elite, prime cruiser in the wbss winner. you cant say bellew has beat someone like that

true but i doubt the general board reaction would be to totally discount the win, for a lot of boxers there are certain ppl who just cant be fair to them, you might get some extremists but beating usyk id think would be rated very highly
