Why does he have to do that?
oogiebe wrote: ↑08 May 2018, 13:23Peter? Seriously? Hasn't fought in two years...if he still has the power, no one in their right mind would make that match for Joyce.
Why not?
Former champ, somewhat of a name and should be an easy win.
oogiebe wrote: ↑08 May 2018, 13:23Tom Schwarz would be a pretty good matchup. The dependency is what is the game plan for Joyce. He can get three more fights in this year and if done "smartly" as I indicated he could actually make a "statement" fight on the third fight at the end of the year.
Tom Schwarz, a no-name with a ranking of No. 22 on BoxRec. Doesn't seem like a very good risk vs reward opponent.
Why would he want to fight him?

Not sure if this has been covered but Joyce called out Jarrell Miller on Twitter today.
Miller doesn't seem too interested.

Talking about Peter, he is in too bad shape for Joyce. Joe isn't young, so he needs a bit forced going up. He already had pretty tough journeymen for the beginning, now he probably should pick declining, but more or less credible top fighters of the recent past. Peter seems to be almost non-credible.
oogiebe wrote: ↑08 May 2018, 13:23Joyce needs to establish himself and do it smartly.
Why does he have to do that?.
Because he's over 30 years old and has what, four fights against garbage level opponents. Thomas sucks and he's the best Joyce has fought?

Doesn't make sense considering if he wins, so what? Peter is shot (but still has power).

I'm a fan of Schwarz, but his ranking doesn't reflect his skill set at No. 22, just indicates more of the lack of top notch talent in HW division/ Schwarz is not a no name, by the way
Why would he want to fight him?

Otto Wallin, he holds the second tier EU belt and just beat Granat, should represent a step-up...

Chin - Not a bad choice indeed! Winner to fight Kean.

Stiverne? Are you kidding me? The guy can barely stand at all, let alone keep standing with a boxer in front of him.
I'd like to see him against Luis Ortiz, but if they want to be carefull they can always choose guys like Charles Martin, Adamek, Browne, name them.
Ortiz would spank him. I have absolutely no doubt.

We'll see if/when that fight occurs but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Keane hasn’t shown much of anything thus far and would be a sideways step at best after Wallin. I’d maybe have him in with Dimitrenko or Takam afterwards...

We'll see what Keane has against Braidwood. That'll tell us a lot I believe. He's not nothing, but we don't know just yet if he's something.

Pretty sure i heard Allen rejected an offer to fight next month? Seems like an easy CW defense is next.
Peter Fury mentioned in an interview he has no interest in this fight for Hughie....
Joyce should be aiming for Wallin & then Kabayel (who i rate) asap imo. Get those euro belts, no dithering..

Nick Webb. Undefeated British Heavy. 12(10)-0 record - against mostly shite though but they fought in the ABAs in 2012 (Joyce Pts) so get some fake beef up & you have a good co-event fight for the title.
Here's their amateur fight. If anyone can tell me exactly how many times the bird shouts "Come on, Nick" I'll buy you dinner
jamamb wrote: ↑08 May 2018, 13:07
hmm okay, i guess that would be guys like franz rill, leapai, niall kennedy , haumono...
Is Niall Kennedy eligible? Yes, if he is.
Fred Kassi would be pretty decent.
Sam Peter if he's still fighting.
Joyce needs to establish himself and do it smartly. Peter? Seriously? Hasn't fought in two years...if he still has the power, no one in their right mind would make that match for Joyce. Good call on Schwarz. Good ranking, good record with looking too closely and Joyce would beat him.
I'd like to see him defend his commonwealth belt though. What about the bloke that beat Dillon Caman? Mjildas I think his name is. He can crack and is Canadian champ.

No-one has mentioned Dauhapas.
He has made a name being a punching bag against big names and after each loss he has to drop down a level so I think he might be appropriate now.
He is very tough so should extend Joyce a few rounds and will give us a good gauge of how he compares to the top guys.
For the same reasons I'd suggest Wach also.

I wouldn't at all be surprised to see Bellew going to for Charr's "regular" title.

Dauhapas would provide rounds but not a lot of 'learning' opportunities.
