Eddie must be delighted he let Burnett in!
Yeah dont want to go to japan thats for sure! But in fairness burnett would beat mcdonnell also
Hell with that assumption, I have no idea why we even bother staging fights when hypothetical results are written as accepted fact on a boxing forum.

Kono was a good win, I know it was stopped for a cut, but Maloney had the better of him. He has fought some tough Thais, as you say, not at the level of the other guys in the WBSS. I've only seen him twice. We used to get a fair bit of Aussie boxing, in the last 2 years almost nothing which is a shame.
He is still a fairly credible entrant. I don't think anyone is going to have an easy night on their way to inevitably beating him.

I've been following the Moloney twins for a while. Glad Jason has got the shot. Good name recognition for him.

he doesnt have an established world level record, but has defo looked good to me, i think hes a good inclusion as someone who hasnt fully proven themselves but looks to have potential to be a world class fighter. a bit like how ward was entering the super series vs more established names, albeit without an olympic gold

Juan Carlos Payano (20-1, 9 KOs) has joined. Former WBA champion who went 1-1 with Rau'shee Warren a couple of years back. Now 34, he was dropped en route to winning a UD over 14-0 Mike Plania in his last outing.
Thoughts? A decent name but probably has to be considered an outsider imo.
6 spots are now taken (Burnett, Tete, Rodriguez, Moloney, Donaire and Payano) with 2 left. Who do we expect to see fill them? Keeping my fingers crossed for Inoue but not sure how likely that is.

Probably just waiting to announce him last to make a big impact. I heard the other was going to be the winner of the French guy and the Thai fighting for the vacant WBA title, but that fight seems to have been called off.

At this level these blokes have to believe they have a way to beat him.

What a f*cking line up
Have a butchers at this.......
Ryan Burnett - WBA Super World Champion - UK - 19(9)-0
Emmanuel Rodriguez - IBF World Champion - Puerto Rico - 18(12)-0
Zolani Tete - WBO World Champion - South Africa - 27(21)-3(1)
Naoya Inoue - WBA World Regular Champion - Japan - 16(14)-0
Nonito Donaire - former four-time world champion - Philippines - 38(24)-5(1)
Juan Carlos Payano - former world titleholder - Dominican Republic - 20(9)-1
Jason Moloney - mandatory challenger - Down Under - 17(14)-0
Mikhail Aloyan - undefeated contender - Russia - 4-0
What an amazing set of fighters. Even Aloyan's last three opponents had a combined record of 46-1-3. Burnett has been on a streak lately. Rodriguez is young, undefeated & hungry. I still can't believe Donaire will make the weight. Many thought Payano deserved the nod against Warren. Moloney is a Commonwealth Gold Medalist. And, if the draw goes their way, Tete & Inoue will be many peoples favourite for the final.

Great line-up. Slight correction though. It was Andrew Moloney, Jason's twin bother, who won a gold medal at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games.

Thanks Mate. Sorry about that. I've been following them for about 18 months now but didn't bother checking which was which tonight.
Appreciate the input. I'm hoping he does well.
