I never doubted the validity of the story mate. I remember having to train once outside on a Saturday, a lot of the boxing gyms shut in the afternoon and I was having a fight soon so needed to train. Me and my trainer rocked up near this open space, we didnt realise there were a load of caravans nearby. Literally within a few minutes, like a swarm of bees they were round us watching me do the pads. Then one geezer comes over with a roll of cash (I swear to you) asking if I fancied fighting one of their boys.

My trainer (who was a little more street wise than myself when it came to gypsies) politely declined and told them I had a fight and couldn't afford to get cut but maybe next time.

Must admit I was a little worried, more so about my car. I drove a micra at the time (which I couldnt afford to be broken into or stolen etc) and one of the kids was sat on the bonnet, when I said get off he stands on the bonnet, pulls his pants down round his ankles and showed me is intestines! Sounds like a clip out of snatch I know!

Very wise not to get involved. There has been a few contests like that around my way over the past few years, with some big money put down. I went to the Derby once in about 2006. The travellers set up camp on the right hand side as you go into the course. They had lads all along the routes to the course, charging people a fiver a time to park their cars on land that they could have parked on for free, but the best bit was the arranged fights. All of a sudden they set up a ring with scaffold poles and rope and swarm around and watch two or three fights.
We were firmly told we couldn't watch, so fucked off and watched it from a slight hill the other side of the racetrack. Couldn't see much, but there looked to be a couple of half tidy fights.
A lot of the stuff you see on Youtube is poo though.

Seems pie in the sky to me- dident strike me that he would have the dedication for something like that

I like Tyson but there's more chance of him being looked after by men in white coats then becoming one.

It would make a lot of sense. He doesn't seem very good at focusing on the job at hand for long periods.

A stars didn't exist at A-level back then though, so I'd guess today's equivalent would be 2 A stars and an A, especially with the exams being slightly less demanding now (they actually are, not just media bs).

Never actually went that route, as 7 years just to MAYBE get on the ladder seemed a bit much, especially as you could see how the NHS (meaning the government, really) were taking the píss out of junior doctors even then. It's a long, hard slog to get anything worthwhile out of it. Tyson probably just wants access to the prescription pad.

I never heard so much absolute clap trap all my life. As someone who's an academic, and has been down the medicine route, Tyson Fury lacks basic fundamentals to be anything of the sort. I don't even believe he'd have what it takes to become a nurse.

Not only do you have to be educated, book smart, sharp, you need an undying dedication to getting your head down and studying.

No doubt he demonstrates dedication, 12 months at a time, but he'd have to do GCSE's over again (providing he doesn't have any), then do A-levels (achieving at least A's in sciences and maths), then get a competitive score on a UKCAT test (which if he demonstrates any evidence of dyslexia, he will fail). Then, and only then, will he have to embark on a psychological and emotional journey through the rigours on a medical degree, which many intellectuals have tried and failed. That's 8-9 years, if there are no hiccups, where he cannot dip in his commitment to the cause.

I've heard it before. 'I'm going to become a doctor' without actually knowing what that involves. Good luck to him, but I don't even give him a 1% chance.

If fury can be dedicated enough to become a world champ , he could , with maturity , have the discipline it takes to get his degree. He might be a bit mad at times, but he is nobodies mug. dont make me laugh. doctors always think theyre something special , when more often than not , they simply come from priveledged backgrounds. yes, some have a vocation, some are hard workers, some are no doubt academically brilliant, but the vast majority are just the same as anyone else.....and you wont tell me different, cos i went to a top uni, have friends who studied medicine, and have known plenty of doctors personally, both in this country and abroad.
if fury genuinely wanted it and was prepared to make the sacrifices, the only thing stopping him doing it would be the elitist knobheads that run most of these institutions.
