Kow is one of my top favorites amongst the new heavies. I like the way he doesn't look the part too. I always felt it was a very good idea to not look like what you are. It worked for me.

martins widely seen as a joke, dont think cownacki would get any cred for beating him, it would just reaffirm ppls belief that martins no good and was a massive fluke champ

martin is really a no win fight from the boxing fan cred perspective

Martin became a "heavyweight champ" without landing a single punch!

You may have a point. In hindsight the general perception seems to be that Joshua deserves respect for some of his other fights, but that McCracken could've beaten Martin.

I think that's unfair to both boxers and I would be surprised but pleased to see Martin beat Kownacki in a really good contest. I'm not saying Martin is a worthy contender but getting caught cold by a beautifully timed Joshua straight right counter could happen to better fighters than Martin, and that shouldn't be the basis for the contempt in which he is held.

Yeah I'm not sold on Kownacki. No one can know what effect that piledriver from Wilder had on Szpilka but I think it's apparent that Artur is not what he used to be, and that's not saying that he used to be a genuine contender. I think Kownacki 's win was as flattering as Martin's defeat was damning i.e. both not worth the significance attached to them.

Maybe I'm underwhelmed by his soft and flabby appearance (May I be forgiven - I wish I looked equally soft and flabby). He doesn't look to me to be a puncher of any note but he is a volume puncher and clearly much fitter than he looks.

I'm interested to see if he can build on the Szpilka win. A win over Martin would gain some respect from me if few others.
