Marco Huuck gave Povetkin all he could handle, and that was when Povetkin was better. Good opponent for Joshua,, but I struggle to see Povetkin winning.
Actually Povetkin wasn't better then. He became an overall better fighter after Klitschko, but in Huck fight he looked out of shape even for the version of him exemplary for those times. Now he is probably aging, but the infuence of the age on him is more a question, than a fact. For the moment he still looks sound.
No he doesn't, he looks bang average. He looked monster while he was on the gear, then went back to boring, laboursome, average after he was caught
In Price fight he looked sharp. You can say, that Price sucks and has no chin, but in Rudenko fight, for example, all went so laboursome, cause Rudenko was trying not to fight Povetkin. Hammer had also went a distance, but he is tough and durable opponent, he was able to establish the survival mode.

huck was one of his worst performances, thats no more the benchmark then his best ones are, he was out of shape there even by his non ped monster standards
pov has been top 5 or so for almost a decade and still is. rudenko and hammer hardly threw a punch and just wanted to survive, just like when ortiz looked lackluster as f@ck vs scott.

Pov's been at world level more than long enough to warrant a second shot at the crown.

If AJ wants to be a world superstar then this should happen in russia

On paper it's a better fight than Parker. Other than Wlad it will be the best opponent to date.
To be honest I'd pick a young Povetkin over Wilder.

I don’t think Price was actually that close to beating Povetkin. He had him in a spot of bother but there was plenty to go before closing the show
Yeah he wobbled him, but its not like he was close to being stopped.

He was all over the shop, saved by the bell and still struggling when they came out again. He was fortunate that Price was similarly exhausted.

He got caught but in doing so he went backwards and lost balance. He never actually went down did he?
I don’t remember him struggling when he came out for the next round, I remember being annoyed with Price for allowing Povetkin to take charge again ( I had a little bit on Price by KO )

The corner post kept him upright, the shot sent him reeling it was a beauty. Unnatural powers of recovery tho.....

Here's highlights. 1:25 in you'll see Price catch Povetkin. Saved by the ropes then the bell.
Well when I say 'saved' we have no idea what would have happened (if it happened earlier in the round). It didn't so that's that.
I'd still have Povetkin as a favourite over most & at least equal to Wilder.
I'd much rather see AJ v Wilder but this will do until the two camps stop ninnying about.

True and they’d all loose money.
Povetkin has never beaten anyone in the top five and is ancient and clearly on the slide. Kilt absolutely bossed him and Pov had as many decks as possible loaded in his favour. AJs a good level operator, hyped to fornicate but then who ain’t. PPV won’t win a round and he’ll contribute sod all

povetkin actually has lots of solid wins, overall his resume is probably still top 2 in the divisiion with ajs, though some of those wins go back far enough that theyve lost relevance. i think hes still top 5 though and really how many others have beaten top 5 or really impressed enough where aj wouldnt be a sizeable fav? to me its pretty much just wilder, and wilders best wins were over fat bermane stiverne and ortiz
luis ortiz before almost stopping wilder had looked really lackluster and only really had 1 top 10 win even though he was almost 40, but then he raised up to give a good fight. maybe pov can do better then expected though personally i think ajs just too good

Don’t make that face at me! You know full well there are plenty on this board who can’t wait for Femi to lose. Jesus, we had whole threads about Parker pulling off the upset. I gurantee you if Wes put up one of his god awful polls there’s be a fair few cretins picking the Russian. adjustafuck, and I knows he’s back posting on here, would be one of them.

I am supposed to support Povetkin, but he really is on a decline. Waited too long for his shot at Klitschko, now he is too old for Joshua. AJ will keep him at bay with his jab all night and tie him up on the inside just as Wladimir did.

I can say all the same. I'm actually rooting for Povetkin too and giving him some real chances of troubling Joshua and thus pulling out a victory, but still I guess, Joshua is more likely to win, cause AJ is big and he has shown some improvements with his jab, so he probably will be able to utilize Klitschko's strategy against Povetkin.

The face was because I thought you were referring to me and the time I bet a grand on Povektin to beat Wlad.

I didn't recall that but I'll keep it in the locker just in case you're nasty about one of my posts... A grand?! I normally bet about a score, and that's only ever if I'm certain of the result and have good odds.

I think that people are giving little bit too much shit for Povetkin because of that Huck fight.
At the time Huck was title holder at CW. He was also on a good run. Hes last loss was over four ears ago in a hard fight against Cunningham.
Povetkin is not a huge HW. Hes the same height as Huck at 6'2''. He was 20 pounds heavier tho 229 to 209.
On my score card Povetkin got narrow win in a very ugly fight. How that is seen as huge minus to Povetkin is what I don't get.
The same people who are bashing Povetkin for that fight would probably tell you how Holyfield would beat everyone in today's HW division

For me Joshua vs Povetkin would be the number 1 heavy fighting the number 2 heavy and thus an excellent match
