Can anyone think up a stranger matchup that was allowed to happen?

Could this be a mistake, some misquote? Like when Kelly Pavlik was considering fighting “Brian Rose” when it was Ryan Rhodes (a fight that obviously wouldn’t happen) that he mentioned...

I always thought Sibson fighting Andries was a strange one,Sibson not fighting above middleweight stepping straight up against a very strong beast like Dennis,he got the beating i predicted as you would expect.

Whether this fight happens or not who knows. McAllister stepped in to fight a heavyweight on one of his promotions a few months ago . Not sure how it happened and how quick the fight came about but it was a last minute opponent drop out for McAllister to take the fight.

Now we all know Lee is a welter and was obviously not in training due to the weight increase. I'm not sure of his weight for the fight but it will be available on the biba result section of their website. I can't remember who he fought to be honest but the opponent didn't have a great winning record. I think Lee won on points to be honest.

Danny Williams isn't much better these days but really does need to call it a day. The only positive thing I can say is that I doubt either will get hurt as they are possibly the same level of fighter and possibly don't throw punches that are to a standard of active boxers that have trained well and are a better standard.

I have followed biba in the past and would say I have had no issues really as they have brought the brain scanners to the sport and do seem to have some very good medical professionals onboard and invest in mental health and safety. Saying that I do not like to see the likes of boxers such as Danny and Matthew Ellis and the heavyweight who was flattened in 40 seconds just the other week being allowed to carry on.

I know this proposed fight is a freak show but they are adults and can do as they please. There are many freak shows in boxing and the heavyweight clash this evening with Tyson Fury is only a notch or 2 above the freak show tag line. Fury has more chance in hurting Seferi badly than Williams v McAllister. While I see the Williams fight going a boring distance with 2 overweight has beens that will slap each other occasionally I see the Fury fight ending with a knock out in the first round or 2, so which freak show fight has the potential for disaster?

There is too much circus going on an biba aren't the only culprits. We've had the Freddy Flintoff circus show and could well have had the Rio Ferdinand one too.

Dangerous match up,despite Williams being totally shot,he can be a dangerous puncher when the mood takes.

This is sad.
I love the Brixton Bomber. I've always picked him as my all time favourite boxer.
He's given me so many memories. Winning and losing money on his fights when you didn't know which Danny would show up. The incredible Potter and Tyson wins. My left-field favourite Danny moment - the Airich fight - where he was fighting the ref, the timekeeper AND a huge-punching German all at the same time. :box:
I liked Lee Mac too in the only fight I can remember him in - commenting on the playback of Murray KOing him - he was hilarious.
But this is so sad.... and the worst thing ?
I will probably watch it and feel guilty and dirty afterwards - Board should stop it.

It’s nothing to do with the board it’s a BIBA show neither McAllister or williams have had board licenses for a considerable time I agree with you though it’s a real sad match

Genuinely dumbfounded at the sight of this fight. Thought it was just two boxers with the same names at first but to see it is the Heavyweight and Welterweight of yester year, it's genuinely confusing and sad.

It's all for show and it's nothing serious (I hope) but these freak show fights went out of fashion years ago when MMA was first taking off in Japan. For example: Seeing a professional wrestlers fighting actual trained fighters was a one sided beating that quickly stopped. Hopefully something happens and this is stopped in its tracks.

I've held back for some time with all things BIBA on the basis of thought that time will tell (hows the court cases going ?).
Thankfully they seemed to redirect their attentions away from the BBBofC (which I give them credit for) as pointing out anything proved pointless.
But in the aspects of their mantra of safety first - anyone who can justify this latest matchup is beyond reasoning :verysad:

Shameless money making exercise but I bet it sells the show out so biba (gianluca di caro )will get a fair cut out for sanctioning the show

JamieM wrote: 08 Jun 2018, 14:50 Bbbofc sanction fights like this weekly lol. Guys who are 20-0 fighting guys with 40 losses and stuff. So don't be ridiculous. Also Andrew Flintoff freak show. Conor McGregor saga on the global stage. Money talks guys.
With all due respect this is very different.

Journeymen boxers are an integral part of the sport which, like any other sport, is about levels. Anyone can look at a record on paper and ask why Peter Buckley with his 200+ losses is fighting a guy who's 12-0. How many times did Peter get stopped though?

Flintoff - a debutant against a no-hoper. Yes, a bit of a freakshow but if he wasn't a cricketer and just a big bloke who fancied a crack he'd have been down the bill on some obscure show and never heard of again. McGregor - hardly comparable. The guy was a professional fighter and one of the best in his sport.

I didn't even realise Danny Williams had a license to box in the UK any more.

Farce of a fight. Fighting somebody weight divisions lower than him. And even then, he might not even win.

Stick to fighting postmen in Germany. Better off yet, retire.

I actually think Danny Williams has a vaguely interesting book in him.

Winning a fight with a dislocated shoulder, beating Tyson, getting mauled by Klitschko, his 'feud' with Audley Harrison after Audley was hyped by the BBC. Even ending his career as a journeyman across continental Europe. He must have the odd story to tell.

I guess the selling of it might be the hard part, he's not the most well known of British boxers.

McAllister shat out of it against Shafikov years back! He was getting outboxed and out manned and he took the easy route out... He was a decent talent but I lost all respect for him that night!

Paradoxically, you have Ricky Burns who was getting beat up, dropped and his jaw broke early against Beltran but seen it through to the end!
