Very revisionist. Froch went into loads of 50/50 fights or as the outsider. As a fan you want to see the best fight each other and Froch clearly had that mentality.
Which ones were 50-50?
Abraham and Kessler were priced up as proper fifty fifty fights. Carl was the betting outsider against Bute, Ward and Taylor. Narrow favourite over Groves second time.

He had an excellent run and if more boxers took his approach of consistently facing the best available the sport would be in an even better place. He had one gimme from Pascal to the end of his career (Mack) which is fantastic given some of the garbage elite level operators get in with.

He had no choice! Meaty Mick wasn't great. Ward would have taken a rematch anytime, he wouldn't have it. Groves was seen as a gimme in the first fight. Kessler was favourite. I won a fair bit on that when Carl started blaming the volcanic ash cloud for messing up his weight, after years of saying he doesn't go half a stone above anyway.... And it's a two hour flight.

Virtually everyone that Durrell won?! Rubbish! It was a close fight and Froch got a narrow win. I scored it to Froch by a couple of rounds. As with any close fight some people saw it the other way.

Also Bute was a long reigning champ who was fighting Froch at his peak. To discredit Froch’s win as he ‘ended up crap’ is again rubbish and massively revisionist.

Should we discredit Calzaghe’s win against Lacy because Lacy ended up rubbish? Or Fury’s win against Klitschko as Klitschko got KO’d in his next fight?

Froch was betting outsider for Taylor, Abraham, Kessler 1 and Bute.
Shortest price jolly was around 1/4 against Dirrell

Calzaghe's resume is awesome on "name recognition" but we all know that B-Hop (X!) and RJJ were well past their best.
Froch's run - Pascal, Taylor, Dirrell, Kessler, Abraham, Johnson, Ward, Bute was a true murderer's row of world class, relevant-at-the-time-talent. The only one where "close-clear points" was kinda obvious, was a fading Johnson - and that was a replacement before fighting the "Son of God". Only 3 of those were @ home too.

The fact that he followed that incredible run with KESSLER, GROVES, GROVES  - it's just incredible !
If he coulda/woulda just pulled out of the Yusaf Mack gimme - that 11 fight run would stand comparison to any other 11 fight run in the history of the sport.
Great anorak game finding a better run than that.
He lost Kessler I and Ward though, the thread is about winning runs.
That told me then.

To put JC's wins v Jones and Hopkins in perspective.
Jones best wins after the defeat were a faded Sheika and Lacy
Hopkins best wins were Pavlik, Pascual x2, Dawson x2, Cloud, Shumanov and was coming off wins against Tarver and Wright

How many of them are world class? None?
lee won the world championship , eubank fought world champion ,Ryder looks like he will get a shot at a world title ,willie fought world champs , Lemieux fought for world title , spike might get a shot at a world title , so all the fighters are in world title fights or due , all apart from lee are still active and still in the mix
Lee and Lemieux were borderline, although for me, just a touch below world class.

Eubank, Ryder and especially Spike weren’t anything like world class.

They would all look right at home during Calzaghe’s run of pretty average victims!

Froch has it in recent years as mentioned in here many times already.

Lewis had consecutive wins over Mercer, McCall, Akinwande, Golota, Briggs, Mavrovic, Holyfield ( twice :OhYes: ), Grant, Botha and Tua.

Obviously not all elite, but a decent run of wins none the less, assuming we aren’t counting the draw against Evander!

Add Bungu to that and also Sanchez, wasn't he the last man to beat PBF? I'll have to check that, also he beat Johnson too before that.
In fairness Hamed took on everyone, he would have had MAB earlier too if he hadn't been knocked out

Naz is remembered terribly by some. Terms like ‘schooled’, ‘battered’, ‘destroyed’ by Barrera often crop up. Total bollocks of course. It was 8-4 and Naz was a mess. Fight happens 3 years earlier...

While Lennox Lewis has a hell of a resume he never really had a run of consecutive World Class opponents.

2 consecutive wins over Holyfield (which he SHOULD'VE been credited with) would've probably been his best. Following his wins over Golota, Briggs, Mavrovic would've probably been representative of Lennox in top form.

As it stands his best consecutive wins in a row are probably his final 3. Rahman, Tyson, and Vitali.

i had it 9-3 and mab won his rounds way biger. wasnt a battering but i felt a wide win with diferent levels betwen them a guy like rocky juarez pushed mab far more. the last round vs naz was hilarious, even with the point deduction for barerea he probably felt it was worth it

and some maybe dont give naz enough credit, but then some also make loads of excuses for why he lost handily to his one elite world class opponent and provide just as much fantasy when it comes to naz beating so and sos in hypothetical fights.

for this great naz run.who was the best oponent he beat?

Probably Vazquez. They were mostly on the slide at the time, however Kelly had only lost once and they were still belt holders.

I saw the Johnson/Beleno fight live prior to his fight with Hamed, he was dropped and looked a bit shaky but still came back to win over the big punching Columbian.

Medina was still contesting and winning titles after losing to Hamed.

Robinson - Was on an 8 fight title winning streak, mostly by stoppage. Cynically fed to Hamed because FW couldn't really promote him further up. Win/win for FW.
Lawal/Alicia - Couple of gimme defences (I think I have seen Lawal described as "hapless" more than once)
Medina - Often overlooked due to lack of power but he was a decent featherweight and had been champ twice already (and would do it twice more after)
Molina - Not sure from where in the WBO rankings he was plucked but that's FW for you. He fought Morales a couple of fights later.
Johnson - Decent operator, on a run of 12 IBF fights, getting a bit old and creaky but he was still champ
Hardy - Decent featherweight, was EBU holder but blown away (think one punch broke his nose and cheekbone)
Cabrera - Fought some decent names, not sure where they found him
Badillio - Probably Hamed's best "pure" boxing performance, he'd had a close fight with Johnson but gulf in class here apparent. Saw it live.
Kelly - Only had one loss to this point but had his bubble burst by the Mexican Gonzalez but was never really the same after this and lost all his big fights. It was Hamed's US coming out party and a decent brawl
Vazquez - However you slice it, he was a 3 weight champ and was in effect the WBA champ (they would later GIVE Hamed a WBA belt..) and despite being old was still dangerous. Didn't really come back from this loss
McCullough - I felt it was a bit of a cynical fight, he'd not really had any wins at 126 but bookended this fight with losses to Zaragoza and Morales and should probably have got the win vs DZ. Saw it live, was a decent event but a bit of a drab fight.
Ingle - Not sure what he'd done to get the fight, probably another promotionally easy-ish fight to make and was unbeaten and an easy sell. He went on to prove he was world class. Saw it live from ringside, was a decent fight.
Soto - He'd beaten long-time champ Espinosa which was the fight we all wanted to see
Bungu - Long time IBF champ at 122 (unbeaten in 14 title fights?), massively outmatched
Sanchez, ama name but not much cop as a pro in world title terms. Got stretched in style. Practically killed in his last pro bout against dangerman JMJ

I dunno, that's not a bad ledger, if you break it down in terms of title fights prior to facing him it's highly impressive.

Medina went on to win a couple more titles as well so that's an underrated win that. He beat Harrison in Glasgow and lost the rematch....

Yeah, he was a decent fighter - Good boxer but had that herky jerky flicky style, not a typical Mexican. No power but good chin. Hamed seemed to be struggling to put him away but he said he had flu.

I was curious where Medina rated his power, he said Gonzalez hit harder than Hamed and Marquez and rates Marquez as the best he faced. Also says Gonzalez was the strongest.
