Not sure why turning 43 would be the reason for the change though.

More likely it is a case of waning popularity and trying to find a new way to spin a buck.

Glen Rushton estimates Horn v Mundine will turnover 8 to 10 million dollars.
Not bad money for a pork chop.

It will be a big money fight. But Mundine versus anyone else at present doesn't do even a fraction of that.

Horn has called out Pacquiao since Manny's win at the weekend. But Pacquiao more likely to head in other directions. Lonergan seems to be indicating a deal for Horn-Mundine is close.

Roach says Pacquiao should fight Horn:

"Horn would be a good fight to finish Manny's career. But the names they are talking about out there, like Lomachenko and Crawford, I think they wouldn't be the right opponents. I think that I wouldn't like those fight for Manny."

It seems fairly inevitable now that Mundine will be Horn's next opponent and no doubt Horn will cop some flack for that.

It is a huge step down in opponent level. Having just fought perhaps the P4P best fighter on the planet. But fighting Mundine will provide a better pay day than he can probably get elsewhere, and without the risk associated with fighting another world class opponent.

It is hard to be too critical of Horn. Particularly after he has already shown an absolute willingness to fight world level opposition, and once he gets past Mundine I'm sure he will be back chasing rated opponents in search of another title challenge.

I suspect we will hear an announcement this week. Timed to ensure maximum media coverage.

Anthony Mundine now keen for a match-up with Horn to take place in Sydney.

Glenn Rushton says it will be in Brisbane provided the Brisbane Govt puts their hand in their pocket again and backs it (as they did for Pacquiao fight).

Mundine pushing for a 71kg weight limit, saying he can no longer fight at the lighter weight.

Rushton remaining firm on a 70kg weight limit - says it is “non-negotiable’’ - and Mundine agreed to that at the start of negotiations before changing his mind.

“We have already conceded a lot to Anthony and his team,’’ Rushton said. “We have agreed to a 50/50 split and to the fight being a co-promotion rather than our promoter Dean Lonergan staging the event alone.

The preferred date seems to November 17th.
