Michael Moore won by UD over Gerald Sherell

Due to a cut that would not heal in time, Marcos Hernandez was out of the tournament. He defeated Daniel Valdivia by SD, but Valdivia was given a second chance and put back in the tournament.

Shane Mosley Jr. won by UD over Daniel Valdivia

Semifinal Matchups
Brandon Adams (No. 27 BoxRec) vs. Eric Walker (No. 39 BoxRec)
Shane Mosley Jr. (No. 79 BoxRec) vs. Michael Moore (No. 184 BoxRec) ratings not updated yet for Mosley Jr. and Moore

Adams making it look easy. Smiling while kicking peoples asses. I think he's got this. Khytrov looked like the favorite going in so Adams is the favorite now.

Well its not like he had a hard bracket. I think if Mosley Jr was in Adams bracket with Ievgen, Thompson & Walker he would have lost to any of those guys. So more like Mosley got a nice bracket more then he upped his game. He's going to get schooled to all hell vs Adams this weekend.

Hopefully Adams gets a real fight after winning Contender. Its kinda a shame he was on the sidelines for so long as skilled as he is.

Mosley Jr. did have advantages such as having Naazim as his trainer who trained his dad, he's in his prime at age 27, and also he should have won in Australia vs. David Toussaint. If he would have got that decision, he would have been one of the favorites for sure. Adams upped his game much more than Mosley Jr. He was off for 3 years and he lost by TKO to John Thompson in 2015 who is also in the tournament. How could anyone predict that Adams would be in the Contender finals? Adams did not fight Thompson in this tournament. He beat Tyrone Brunson, Ievgen Khytrov, and Eric Walker. That is impressive. Those were among the best on the show, but Mosley Jr. is going to have a significant height and reach advantage over Adams.

I think his bracket was a bigger advantage than Naazim in his corner.

I thought he lost a competitive fight with Toussaint.
How could anyone predict that Adams would be in the Contender finals?
I knew he was talented from that ESPN tournament run he had, but I didn't think 3yrs or w/e off was gonna do him any favors. I thought Ievgen was the favorite to win by a mile going into this tournament.
Adams did not fight Thompson in this tournament.
I didn't say he did. I said he was in Adams' bracket.

And I feel like EVERYONE in Adams' bracket woulda beaten Mosley Jr.

That Mosley Jr bracket was soft & he was the best guy in that bracket so no surprise he won it.
but Mosley Jr. is going to have a significant height and reach advantage over Adams.
Height & reach is gonna have nothing to do with this fight. Adams is too slick & fast. Mosley Jr is too sloppy with poor defense. If there are betting odds for this fight I suspect they are wide for Adams. We'll see soon either way.

His record should read 13-2 but boxrec has not recorded the wins over Valdivia and Moore. The loss to Mosley Jr does not show up on their records either.
Boxrec has recorded all three of Adams wins on the Contender but only one for Mosley.

adams dominated, won every round, very good tournament for him

reggie is right about adams having the much stronger opposition, credit to mosley he did better then i thought, but not sure he wouldve made it to even the semifinals if him and adams had switched brackets. also shanes quarter final opponent danny valdivia hadnt even won his previous fight in the tournament.

on the undercard adams semifinal opponent walker won by ud over mosleys semi final opponent moore

Good for Adams for winning, but I don't think he's on that top 10 level. He had one hell of a bracket, though. Beating Khytrov is massive.

The Thompson fight was mainly him just getting caught and possibly draining too much. I think I remember him getting thoroughly outclassed by Monroe Jr., though. No real excuse for that, but if he has improved since then, it would be great to see him as another contender at 160 lbs.

Contender winners:

Sergio Mora(middleweight)
Grady Brewer(junior middleweight)
Sakio Bika(super middleweight)
Troy Ross(cruiserweight)......

.........a decade later Brandon Adams at middleweight.

How about the original Contender vs the current Contender?
Sergio had a fight in 2018, he's still an active fighter.
Mora vs Adams

or maybe Adams vs the 2018 Jamaican Contender winner Ricardo Salas(11-1)

Anybody that wins a season of the Contender might as well milk it as much as they can.
