Wasnt this the fight where freddie roach trained AAA by telephone lol.

The first night of BN...walsh v appleby that was another decent all british fight

AAA was always very open to shots, and I felt that a fit Gomez could get to him. I remember AAA getting dinged by Malinga on the Harrison v McCullough undercard and thinking if he got caught like that against Gomez he would go....

Is this actually true. I'm a gullible man but I'm struggling to believe that

Yeah definitely mate. Really like him as a pundit. But apparently he was murder to train. Always changing trainers. Not listening etc....

Alex at that stage of his career was a real arrogant piece of work. I think the name was 'Arsehole Alex Arthur'. I remember him jumping on the ropes insulting the Glasgow crowd, and Jim Watt being in total shock wondering why he wasn't trying to bring the nation together.

Outside Edinburgh, the consensus when he got smashed by Mikey was that is was funny. The AAA wink to the camera when he was down encapsulated what he had become.

He was an arrogant fukker lol. I was at the Limond fight and the crowd were like 80% Limond that night and giving Arthur pelters. Always thought he could've been something special if he screwed the nut.

I was gutted when he got done by Gomez lol. I never liked Gomez though....

It might actually have been the Limond fight when I think of it, at the Braehead!

To be fair to him, he came back really well and actually started to come across well. Whether it was better PR I don't know as I don't know him personally!

Yeah it was the Limond fight mate. He was getting dogs abuse go gave the Glasweigans a bit back when he won. He was also pretty disrespectful after he beat Craig Docherty saying he could've beat him and Limond one after the other on the same night etc.....

I've met him before and he was a really nice guy. Same with Limond and Docherty. Both top blokes :TU:

Think Arthur is a decent guy. I interviewed him a few times when I worked for the Sporting Life and he was always sound. Knew how boxing and was corteous. I think he was just really, really confident on the way up. Was some talent too but would have benefitted from a trainer who would properly have laid the law down to him. Got a lot of time for Alex but Gomez was one of my favourite ever fighters. I’ll nrber ever forget that night when he rolled back the years in the Scot’s Backyard.
