That’s clearly BS - no way there’s that money for anything other then major events which this wouldn’t be. It’s also the reason, no major fighters have officially signed on or shown genuine interest in doing so.
What's BS? The deal was announced, along with the financial commitment, with DZN. They have to start somewhere. When Hearn first started promoting in the U.K. they struggled to get fighters and sell tickets. I'm sure they'll struggle initially in the US.
They haven't officially announced anyone because they're saving it for next week to announce all of their signings. So no major fighters have shown genuine interest? What about Mikey Garcia? He's done several interviews saying he's interested. Whether he'll sign may be a different story.
It’s quite clear and obvious to me
from the start that the DAZN deal is not as described. There is zero chance that either company would commit to an 8 year, billion dollar contract without a break clause - In this case it’s widely suggested to be a 2 year contract which sounds about right.
Interms of fighters signed on, unless Eddie has managed to keep an almighty massive Secret there is not going to be anyone of real note announced next week.
So far Eddie has openly chased, but ended up being dismissed/ridiculed by the following fighters - Wilder, Broner, Spence etc
Chased others who have either given a diplomatic no or a lets see in the future (which will never come to anything)
Mikey Garcia, Charlo Bros, Bivol, Gervonta Davis etc
He even started taking about bringing over domestic level guys like Tommy Coyle to fight on his US cards Which is real worrying interms of content but maybe good for Tommy.
It’s not looking good so far, but as you say it’s a work in progress and hopefully it develops into something good over time.
