There's a kind of ... fighting-for-one's-own-self-respect ... thing in boxing ...
.. a basic .... my-life-has-value ... thing ... I'm-a-human-being-goddamit ... and-I-want-some-goddam-respect ...
... that's at the core of every fight ... and in the heart of every fighter ... and in fact is really what boxing is all about in the end ...
... and it's been my experience ... that black fighters have that sentiment way beyond anything that white fighters can even comprehend ...
... and there's a kind of wisdom in that ... a wisdom that is sorely-lacking in every white fighter I've ever seen ...
