Best imported fighter ever to appear in.......

I seem to remember thinking that at the time, although this was around 10 years ago, and I was no doubt hammered.

Didn’t Martinez fight Stone in Bristol?

Yeah, he fought Williams twice in the UK too.
I'm trying to think of the best fighter to visit Sheffield, even past prime. Struggling to be honest. Maybe Glenn Johnson.
I'd have said Hearns for Manchester.
Crawford for Glasgow?
Take your pick for London but Ali would be the obvious choice. Going back a bit further, Joey Maxim. Georges Carpentier and probably a few more big names.

Nottingham - Timothy Bradley

Actually missed that fight. Decided to go to me mates to carry on drinking. Caught the end of it on telly though!
From what I can recall, Matthews deserved to win, but it was that fight which earned him his ‘Dirty’ moniker

Sugar Ray Robinson also fought in London. Gotta be him or Ali.

Barrera vs Paul “Livewire Lloyd”, Royal Albert Hall. 1999, when Barrera was rebuilding after losing his WBO 122-pound title to Junior Jones. Before his epic first fight with Morales & the masterclass over Naz and the perfect displays of boxing against Kevin Kelly and Johnny Tapia.
I guess people would also mention Orlando Canizales, a good fighter whom I regard as the most overrated of the late ‘80s/early ‘90s. Canizales barely beat Billy Hardy up North in a very good fight.

Santos Laciar v Charlie Magri. Magri won an exciting fight, by a good few rounds. This was one of those ten rounders wher an imported fighter didn’t seem to quite have their best (see Laporte traveling to fight McGuigan). Laciar went on to become an outstanding world champion - holding titles at 112 & 115 -and one of the all time top 10 greats from Argentina.
Re: Best imported fighter ever to appear in.......
Mark "Too Sharp" Johnson fought in Belfast, dropping a decision to Richie Wenton in a four-rounder. Joe Frazier fought in London against a surprisingly competitive Joe Bugner.

Jack Johnson boxed a 20 rounder in Plymouth, Devon, England.
Freddie Miller a 12 rounder on the Isle of Man. You won't find it in the record books but he beat Tommy Tune of Barnsley on April 12 1938.

Crawford probably is the best for Glasgow in modern times.
Zab Judah boxed there too, beating Junior Witter.
