yawn fest

Pulev will stick behind his sub-klitschko 'don't hit me' jab...and Fury will be terrified of being hit.

not one for the purists.

The poll is currently 17–17 with 2 draws.

Interesting at the moment.

It reflects an actual situation in a proper way.

The event, entitled “Fire & Fury” will be presented by Ivaylo Gotzev and John Wirt’s Epic Sports and Entertainment, together with Fury’s promoter, Hennessey Sports, and will be broadcast live in the UK on Channel 5.

I'm with R-KO on this.
Hughie last time out showed he has learned from his fight with Parker. He is still mobile and elusive, but he showed a higher work rate and for a guy of Pulev's age, that is going to make the difference. I rank Hughie as a top #10 HW. I know he isn't there yet, but given his size, skill set, and age, it's only a matter of time and a few more fights. I can see him dealing with Pulev pretty easilly.

The winner is a legit contender and should face Joshua/Povetkin or Wilder/Fury next (with Miller being the opponent for the other fight).

Well, not Fury v Fury obviously.

We’re starting to get some decent heavyweight fights. Not the greatest. But definately decent/good.

Just need these US heavys to pull their finger out.

Need to see more knockdowns and knockouts from the heavy guys.

Agreed I think he goes.

If I’m Team Fury I can see why they fancy this. I rate Pulev but I can see a scenario where Fury can easily outbox him. Pulev ain’t the best mover.

Originally I favoured Pulev but I’m starting to think Fury could potentially stand him on his head.

The fact that Channel 5 are showing this fight live on a Saturday night, adds a lot of weight to this fight going ahead.

Gutsy British heavyweight champion Hughie Fury has described his decision to take on Kubrat Pulev in front of the hard-hitting Bulgarian’s home crowd as a “no brainer”.

Image

Having come face-to-face with his opponent for the first time at the launch press conference in Bulgaria, Hughie Fury said: “People might look at me and ask ‘what is he thinking fighting over there? It’s such a risk’, but that’s not how I see it. For me this is a massive opportunity and I plan to make the most of it."

“A couple of guys in the division have ducked Pulev and that tells you that he’s a dangerous opponent. Listen, I’m prepared to fight anyone, anywhere in the world and these are the fights that I want. I want big fights and I want to take over the heavyweight division. That’s what I believe I can do.”

He added: “Fighting outside of the UK doesn’t bother me. At the end of the day there are only two people in the ring, so it doesn’t matter where the fight is taking place. There’s no pressure on my side. If anything, there’s more pressure for him to perform in his own back yard.

“He is a good boxer and has lots of experience, but he has to bring it all when he faces me. I’m looking forward to the challenge.

“In my last fight against (Sam) Sexton I didn’t get out of second gear. This time fans will see a different Hughie Fury. To all my fans who have supported me from day one, on October 27th you are going to see a spectacular performance and it will be a brilliant night to remember.”

On a potential fight with the winner of Joshua vs. Povetkin, Fury said: “Joshua will come through Povetkin and that’s the fight that I’m destined for. That’s the fight that I want, and I will grab it with both hands. For now, I’m just concentrating on the fight with Pulev and the rest will take care of itself.”

Peter Fury, Hughie’s father and trainer, said: “We’ve been working on Hughie’s strengths in training rather than worrying to much about Pulev.

“We know what we are facing, Pulev is dangerous. He is an experienced fighter, but this is fight we all wanted. It’s been a good camp so far and the closer we get, Hughie will only improve and get better.

“Hughie has the tools to beat him and as soon as the bell goes, he will be ready!”

Hughie is taking a massive leap from Sam sexton to pulev. Fair play.

I wonder if he will adopt his more aggressive approach like sexton or his shades of Ali marathon like parker.

I’d love to see it as I don’t rate Pulev and think he’s given far too many chances by the organisations but Hughie isn’t good enough to stand him on his head, and I think out there he’ll need to do that to get the verdict.

I think Pulev will win a close points decision in a stinker. Fury will say he won, Mick will say he won easily. Pulev moves onto AJ. Fury hasn't really lost much and remains a fringe contender.

If Fury loses a clase decisión and doesnt get bashed up, It will be no real loss.
Good experience of fighting world class in the lions den
Hughie is still young and improving and fights like that benefit fighters a lot more than fighting the usual suspects.

Agreed , and i really think taking these fights now , at his age is going to stand him in contention to win a world title in a couple of years , , I think AJ would ko him now , but give it a few years i'm not so sure Hughie will get better , and stronger

Pulev loves to throw the right after the jab, infact he's like clockwork when he is allowed to get away with it.
I believe Hughie will beat him to the jab all night long like chipping away at an old rock-and eventually find the big right hand him self.
Sledge hammer breaks the rock.

Hughie wins by stoppage

Yeah, I always found Peter and Hughie, by far, the most agreeable of the Fury clan.

Although it may well turn into a stinker, I am actually quite looking forward to the fight.

Pulev is the more proven but has hit his ceiling, Hughie still doesn't know what his ceiling is.

The battle of the jabs will be key in the early stages but down the stretch I thunk Fury will try to put it on the older man and how Pulev reacts will determine the victor.
