I reckon Prograis beats Ramirez. Just give him the full title.

Reggie said he chose Terry because he wants the toughest fights.
Maybe he doesn't rate Josh
Or he's full of bollocks.

wasnt really anyone good to pick. in fact prograis was the only fighter who got a choice and he could only choose flanagan or martin
taylor and prograis were seeded and couldnt pick each other
relik-troyanovsky and baranchyk-yigit were made ahead of time
leaving only martin and flanagan, and of course since prograis chose flan that left taylor with martin
for season 2 in general there was less choice for the fighters

Prograis is definitely on a different level. I don't think Flanagan realizes what he's up against. Flanagan will be on the run from the first bell. I didn't like his performance vs Hooker. Prograis is a hunter and puts himself in harms way to land shots. He's not the kind of guy you want to get into a firefight with because he is good on the inside and slips shots well. He was going to war with Spence in the amateurs. He always seems to get into positions to land with good leverage. He wants you to throw punches so he can counter. Flanagan needs to throw always combinations when he is throwing and then get away. He's got good footwork but I don't think he's going to react well to being bullied. Prograis fights aggressively and won't let Flanagan off the hook.

I hear Prog regularly met Spence in Texas Am finals and always lost on close points decisions...that’s some great experience right there. He looks a beast, Terry is definitely heading into the Wolf’s den, Prograis has taken three unbeaten records in his last three fights...
Is Tel already in New Orleans anyone know ?

Regis Prograis Explains Flanagan Pick, Only Wants Best Fights
He was given the choice of either Flanagan – a UK native with a single loss in 34 fights – or unbeaten prospect Ryan Martin, who’s never had a scheduled 12-round bout and has gone beyond eight rounds just once in 22 appearances since turning pro in 2013.
Neither Flanagan nor Martin are ranked by The Ring, though Flanagan holds down IWBR position No. 8 while Martin is again unranked.
So, when it came time to choose, Prograis said Flanagan was a no-brainer.
“I chose him because he was a tougher fight,” he said.
“For me, he was a tougher fight than Ryan Martin. He has a better resume. I want to fight people with a good resume. He’s a former world champion. Ryan Martin is a good fighter, but he’s not a former world champion and he doesn’t have a resume like Terry Flanagan.
“I want to fight people like that. Right now, I’m ranked No. 1 on most people’s lists and I want to keep that. I want to fight better people. I felt like he was the harder choice. He was the tougher competition.”
The winner of Saturday’s encounter will advance to a semifinal against WBA champ Kiryl Relikh, and the weekend undercard in New Orleans will also feature a vacant IBF title bout – and tournament quarterfinal – pitting No. 1 contender Ivan Baranchyk against No. 3 Anthony Yigit.
The other remaining tournament fight, set for Nov. 3, matches the aforementioned Taylor and Martin.
“At the end of the day, people are going to say ‘Who did you fight?’ That’s what everybody always brings up,” Prograis said. “I want to say I fought champions, former champions, undefeated fighters. I already have that on my resume and I want to add another former champion.”
So, in the meantime, the man dubbed “Rougarou” – and holder of the WBC’s bogus “diamond” title behind Ramirez – is happy to take on willing WBSS comers.
“I love it. I know we hear it all the time, but it really is the best fighting the best. If somebody wins, they move on,” he said.
“In boxing, you have a lot of loopholes. You can be mandatory and you still might not fight the champion. That’s the thing that happened with me and Ramirez.
“But with this tournament style, you know who you’re going to fight. If you win, you fight again. You lose, you’re out. I’m a big-time competitor. That’s why I’m in boxing. I love to compete. I want to fight the best. For me, in my opinion, in my mind, it’s great. This is great for boxing.
“I’m not worried about anybody’s style or anything like that. I don’t care. I want to fight.”

Good fight, which will make a change from the recent stuff we’ve been seeing Tel in.
Can’t see him winning but hopefully he goes down guns blazing, maybe even lasts the distance this guy looks a heavy puncher;
I guess no UKTV?

Another cracking fight I'm looking forward to but considering Flanagan's last few fights have been balls I'm just hoping its not another 12 round borefest, both southpaws here as well, I thought the scores were a bit harsh for him against Hooker although I did have him losing it by a round, he just needs to be a bit more clever in his attacks and learn when to press, he lacked urgency against Hooker, hurt him in the middle rounds but never looked like getting him out of there, waited until the 12th to go for broke
Ive been impressed with what ive seen of Prograis, just iced Diaz Jr and Indongo, think Flanagan will prove more durable than them though and harder to look good against, I think Prograis just be a bit too quick for Flanagan and fighting at home he'll get the closer rounds on the cards, I'm hoping Flanagan can let his hands go more, not steam in with the head, educated pressure as Hatton used to say, try and drag Prograis into deep waters, I thought Indongo had no problem landing before getting starched

Indongo was landing but i didn't think his shots had any real leverage on them, Prograis was bossing the exchanges on-balance and Indongo was kind of flailing in response it seemed to me. I expect a similar disparity for Flanagan. I'm going to open the book on how early Prograis jabs him to the chest and rocks him back on his heels, I doubt we'll see more than 90 seconds without that happening

When I posted earlier that Reggie dosent rate Taylor, here is a quote from him at the presser yesterday;
Prograis expects Baranchyk and Taylor to square off in the semifinals on their side of the bracket.
“If they end up fighting, I pick Ivan Baranchyk to beat Josh Taylor,” Prograis told BS.com. “Just because he’s real serious. After the pairing [July 20 in Moscow], we all went out to eat together – Baranchyk and his team and his manager. And he said, ‘Me and you are gonna be in the final.’ And we kind of toasted to it.
“He was real serious. And, you know, Russians are real serious, anyway. So he was like real serious about it. I seen in his eyes that he can pull of the win against Josh Taylor. Josh Taylor is a real good boxer. He can do all kinds of stuff – inside, outside, he’s fast, he’s real tall and long. But if he gets in a dogfight with Ivan Baranchyk, which Ivan Baranchyk will get in a dogfight, I think I can see Ivan Baranchyk pulling that off.”
