So yeah he's ready for Charr, but what mildly decent Heavyweight ain't?

I love the enthusiasm to think he'll be in a position to challenge a genuine world title in 1-2 fights. I think he needs to be looking at 3-4 fights against the right opposition to find himself in a mandatory spot (or picked from a crowd of voluntary' s).

Problem is, the heavyweight scene is very crowded at the moment, and there's a lot of guys that have done a lot more than Kownacki, and still without a title shot.

I don't know who he could fight in his next fight to win a title shot. I actually think it's impossible. Two fights? If he could entice Breazeale and Whyte, and win both (which he wont), then he could be in mandatory position for the WBC.

The IBF mandatory position is wide open, but Pulev and Fury are duking that one out. Could target someone like Kabayel and Povetkin to get his shot. Don't see him winning both them either.

I think if he takes 3-4 fights, gradually upgrades his levels, improves in performance, he could be there or there abouts. I'd say take on;

Chisora
Kabayel
Breazeale
Whyte

And he'll be there.

hes with al haymon, wouldnt surprise me if he gets a wilder shot next year if deontsy doesnt get locked up with fury and aj, clearly its not just about the most deserving, or else gerald washington and szpilka and molina etc never wouldve got shots. but notice there all with haymon

I think there is decent chance for him to end up being voluntary defense at some point. With his defense he is like custom made for AJ or Wilder to blast out in couple of rounds. All he needs is bit more credibility to sell the defense. 2 rank 15 type of opponents and hes set to cash out.

People have been saying he will lose when he steps up for like 7 fights now, but he just continues to win. The fight to make is him vs wach, in Poland perhaps.

I hadn't even heard of him until like 2 fights ago

He'll lose against Top 10 type guys I would imagine. He's able to squeak by Top 20 types though. Charles Martin was on the verge of that Top 20-ish mark.

Him against Wach would be another one where his stamina would be tested because Wach is notoriously tough, but not particularly skilled.

Is Wach currently even better than Martin?

Sounds like step down to me...

Fight Ruiz for the fat cruisers title? Ruiz would beat him easily :box:

Wach will almost for sure fight Szpilka in november. Once he had to fight in Poland i think he had to face Ugonoh (it was before the Szpilka fight) but TV boss rejected him because... he is and looks too fat for big ppv event.

No, I'd agree.
In fact when I read " another couple of fights and then a title" the only title I though that was plausably within his grasp is the pleather and plastic trinket Charr is mildly embarrassed to wear in public.
It would be a close fight, but I would pick Charr to stop him, Kownacki is just too easy to hit.

i dont rate kownacki but i really doubt hes getting stopped by charr. charr even lost like 4 out of 10 rounds to tiny old seferi and couldnt stop him!

whose the best guy charr stopped anyway. and personally i dont much rate a 7-5 over old oaf ustinov

kownacki imo would outwork charr and beat him with that big output and iron will. charr despite the bauble is imo not even top 20. lets not let it creep into our minds that with this talk of him being a titilist hes better then he actually is

Kownacki is only 18 fights in, I seriously doubt posters were speaking much about him at fight 10. He has also been quite smart about matching him. Putting him up against semi-skilled but largely lacking power. I don't think anyone had any concerns that he'd lose to Szpilka or Martin.

I'd personally think he'd make a match out of Parker, as he doesn't have many physical advantages (I.e. height and reach), and Parker has been typically low volume recently. But against a puncher like AJ, Wilder, Povetkin, Whyte, he'd come undone.

I think people were getting a little carried away with the Wilder performance before he was cleaned out.

Szpilka is not a very good boxer, and the rest of his record supports that. I was pleasantly surprised myself, but it was not a high risk fight for Kownacki. It was what I would consider a calculated risk.

Yeh, he was atrocious in the Mike Mollo fight. Was it the rematch where he was dropped. No technique nothing.

Szpilka was down in both Mollo fights.

Kownacki was considered a underdog vs Szpilka, vast majority expected Szpilka to win, before this fight he was almost unknown, even in Poland.

Miller and Whyte, for example, deserved the shot more, than Kownacki. And Breazeale is about the same worthy. Considering the fact, that the nearest challengers are Povetkin and likely Fury, Miller and Whyte should fight someone else as well as Breazeale. Well, Miller already has a scheduled fight. And Adam has just fought in a hard bout. Maybe after he takes a rest and fights someone decent, like Parker or Ortiz, or H.Fury, the today's challengers will lose their opportunities, so Kownacki will be closer to a shot in a case of winning next fight or two.
Will have to see what his ABC rankings are in a couple of days.

Anyone reckons he beats Chisora?
Depends which Chisora turns up. It could be a terrfic battle if Chisora is up for it like he was against Whyte or Takam, there again Kownacki breazes past the pussy-cat Chisora who turned up against Pulev and Kabayel.

Kownacki needs to change trainer and training camp in general. Before fighting Szpilka he was preparing with Adamek team in Poland, that was truly professional camp with a lot of specialists taking care of him, also with good sparringpartners. His weight was 109kg (~240lbs), much less than vs Kiladze and Martin and it was the best version of Kownacki so far, faster but still as strong as with +10kg if not stronger - without useless 10kg of fat his punches and legs were more dynamic so the punches probably had even bigger impact. 105-110kg version of Kownacki beats Chisora imo. I'd love to see Kownacki vs Takam.

There are rumours about Kownacki to fight on Wilder-Fury undercard but it seems unlikely. Now he goes to Poland for 3 weeks, he'll be back most likely in the first quarter of 2019, probably vs weaker opponent this time. Kownacki said that he wants easier fight now, and that he needs to lose weight because he was tired in the last round against Martin.

TBH, he didn't do anything against Takam. Why lie.. He waited, waited and waited and then bang. landed a nice clean shot which ended the fight.

Apart from leaning against the ropes for most of the rounds and hitting the odd counters, he didn't do anything. It wasn't really a performance. That's just my opinion.

guys like pulev, kaybel, and fury jabbed and/or moved him. funny how his 'uninterested' showings are vs those guys and his best just so happen to come vs guys who stand right with him.

kownacki is more of the type he does well against. put him in with a guy like hughie fury, and wed probably hear the unmotivated stuff again, when its in fact mainly him struggling with guys who dont fight his fight

i recently went back and watched footage of his legit losses, and im convinced he was actually trying pretty hard. like vs fury and pulev for example you can see him trying to press, only to get smacked repeatedly with jabs and not be able to land much on a superior boxer who isnt a sitting duck for his wide often telegraphed shots

How many people can you think of could knock out Carlos Takam?

How many could withstand the battering he took from Carlos Takam?

One of the reasons Takam lost, apart being caught with a damn good shot, was he had thrown the kitchen sink at Chisora and couldn't budge him, expending all his reserves as he did so. I was bloody impressed. Clearly you weren't but that's no reason to call me a liar is it?

Some people !

Yes it's movers that give him trouble, fair point, but Kabayel's hardly Willie Pep is he? I'm sure the Chisora that faced Whyte would have beaten him. Just my opinion obviously.

hardly takes a pep level boxer to outbox del chisora. these 'inspired' showings are so often convienently when the opponent fights his fight and is stationary right there for him. and dels a very tough guy in that type of fight

a guy like whyte may be better then kaybayel, but it was the latter who had the better tactics vs del.

to me its pretty obvious that del is gonna look more into things usually if his man is right there with him rather then adopting a box and move approach that he obviously has more trouble with. now maybe del is erratic in some aspects of motivation, but imo theres at least as much 'the opponent made him look unmotivated' to it

i feel pretty confident that ppl would be saying del looked far more fired up vs kownacki then vs hughie fury

Really, just a few. Fighters who've already had a title shot include Joshua, Wilder, Fury, Ortiz, Povetkin, Pulev, Breazeale, Chisora, Parker, Jennings, Huck, Martin, Adamek, Ruiz Jr, Hughie, Duhaupas, Browne, etc. Plus, Povetkin and Fury are about to get repeat title shots. The only contenders who are really in a closer position to a title shot are Miller, Whyte, and maybe Kabayel.

Uh... no. That's what he would have to do to nearly clean out every other contender in the division. You might as well put a belt on him at that point, because Wilder's resume hardly looks that good.
