canelo, gennady allowed him to
dominate for too long.

canelo finally won me over. risky
strategy entering the fight and he
in the end made it work.

but let's face it, this fight was won
on the calendar, as did floyd against
manny.

Lol people are blind. Canelo controlled that fight from beginning to end. GGG looked like a defeated fighter, being walked down and punished with hard counters and body shots. GGG for most of the night stuck his jab out but couldn't keep Canelo off of him, it was obvious who was in control. But hey at least the right guy won and all the bickering means nothing. Good job Canelo, you couldn't win this fight in the eyes of most of the people on this forum no matter what you did, good thing it was professional judges scoring this fight rather than the clearly biased fanboys on this forum.

I thought the first fight was a draw and possibly GGG edging it. This fight wasn't that close for me, Alvarez did exactly what he needed to do.

Hi Greg, thanks for the card.

Reflecting on my scoring.

I had four clear rounds. I expect 75% overlapping, so that means I expect the 3 judges to score with me, 9 times out of 12. The result was 7-5 overlapping. Round 5, which I saw as clear to GGG, ended up as a win for Canelo on all three cards. That made the difference.

The two close rounds. I expect 60% overlapping. It was 4-2. So close to what I expect.

The toss up rounds were 15-5 regarding my picks. So it appears I was in general agreement with the judges as to who pipped the toss-up rounds. This favoured Canelo, as he was the winner on more toss-up rounds than GGG.

Anyhow, as Harald Letterman said during the telecast, you could give practically any round to any fighter. Very hard to score.

GGG. 116-112. Clear win in both fights. Anyone who disagrees clearly wasn’t watching. He landed more shots and outboxed him in the middle rounds. Plus, he landed the best punch of the fight.

I gave Canelo 2,3,11 and 12. HBOs card was spot on.

Golden Boy rely on Canelo’s draw. Probably 80% of their income. GGG could’ve knocked out Canelo and still lost.

Much closer than the first fight. I had Golovkin 117-116 but although I predicted Canelo would win even if he didn't (after the disgusting judging in the first fight) I find I don't really have any complaints about the decision. It was very close and you could make a case for either of them winning.

I expect Canelo was always going to get the decision unless GGG had pitched a shutout but you can't really point any fingers the way it played out.

Golovkin by four rounds..... And what was all that nonsense by the commentators about Canelo "winning the story of the fight" While their 'score card guy' was rightfully giving the rounds to Golovkin?

I watched it on YouTube with no commentary - which is probably the best way to avoid any external influences.

Yeah, it was easy to pick who the house fighter was. In particular Max Kellerman was leading the Canelo cheerleading club. Roy was pretty neutral and the main commentator too. Letterman was scoring it accurately, imo, in particular because he said so many rounds were dead close. But every time Roy would say something positive about GGG, Max would jump in with some bullshit about Canelo. He just couldn't let any good GGG action be left uncommented (or untainted) without mentioning some phantom punch that Canelo landed in response.

I do however agree, that after sitting on the ropes in the first fight, Canelo improved his chances of picking up rounds on the cards by moving forward. It also seem to discourage GGG from throwing the heavier shots and GGG practically never let his hands fly. I think you can argue that Canelo won exactly because he was going forward and landing the odd heavy shot. Just enough to pip a few rounds. So, lot of words, short meaning, I can see Canelo "winning the story of the fight" too.

I won money on the Canelo decision. I dont feel over two fights GGG only deserved to be up on only 1 judges card and I felt GGG won last night but im literally about to do the same and re-watch it without the commentary. I'd say im a fan of both fighters styles really so not in a camp fanboy wise and I dont really support any fighters, just love fights . BT's first PPV was quality from start to finish though liked everything about it - Buncey in all his excitement calling Canelo - Clenelo tickeld me though

i had it as a draw however so many of the rounds were close and could have gone either way. overall it was a great fight to watch and i don't think its fair to call it a robbery. even abel sanchez thinks it should have been a draw and he trains golovkin

114-114, felt a lot closer than 1st fight, can't really argue over 7-5 either way, but felt of the 2 GGG deserved that score more..

Really hate the fact that over 2 fights only 1 judge has seen GGG winning, that's the frustration, and I'm definitely not on board with the 12th going to Canelo.

Interesting that Canelo faded late this time yet was super strong and coming on last time, wonder why that might be? :maybe: :maybe: :maybe:

And none of the three judges had GGG winning this fight.

Thanks for posting, here's my breakdown:

Round 1 - 3x to GGG, I concur
Round 2 - 3x to Canelo, I concur
Round 3 - 3x to Canelo, I concur
Round 4 - 3x to GGG, I concur
Round 5 - 3x to Canelo, I thought GGG nicked it. No big argument, it was a close round, but all three having it to Canelo is interesting.
Round 6 - 3x to Canelo, I concur
Round 7 - Moretti scores it to GGG, the other two judges to Canelo. I gave it to Canelo, but razor close, a definite swing round.
Round 8 - Weisfeld scores it to GGG, the other two judges to Canelo, I thought GGG clearly outworked Canelo that round. Interesting.
Round 9 - Feldman scores it to GGG, the other two judges to Canelo. I thought Canelo edged it. Another swing round?
Round 10 - 3x to GGG, I concur
Round 11 - 3x to GGG, I concur
Round 12 - Feldman scores it to GGG, the other two judges to Canelo. I gave it to Canelo but thought it was another swing round.

Exactly. This is it. It's not a pure robbery but it's hard to take knowing that GGG was up against it before the first punch was thrown.... Most of us knew that anyway!

116-113 Canelo. And I went out of my way to reward Golovkin.

Superb performance.

Stood in the pocket against this mythic monster puncher and took his best shots and returned with fire. A granite chin.

Jabs and body work. Rapid combos. Hard shots upstairs. Had Golovkin backing up.

If Golovkin didn't have a jab, he would have next to nothing.

Canelo again demonstrated that he can change his style from fight to fight. Call him Señor Versatility.

Golovkin was the same old one trick pony. A jabber who feared to leave himself exposed by dropping his hands to initiate any body attack.

Canelo, who's not even a solid middleweight yet, was always the better fighter.

It was obvious in 2017 if you watched with your eyes instead of your desires.

It was even more obvious last night. Canelo is an amazing athlete.

And everyone, please have a very happy Mexican Independance Day.

This is probably an extremely stupid question (ah what the hell, I've looked stupid many times before. I'm sure this won't be the last) but I assume you can't get BT PPV if you're a Sky subscriber and vice versa, right?

Two judges gave the 12th to Canelo, and there is no way he won that round. If at least one of those two wasn't corrupt, we would have had another draw which would be a much fairer outcome.

I had it a draw due to giving canelo 12 but I couldn't make up my mind on that round so i just gave it to canelo since i figured thats what the judges would do.
