Defo not.leejonesjnr wrote: ↑16 Oct 2018, 07:14Nopefightfan95 wrote: ↑16 Oct 2018, 06:01 Dave will definitely do well out of boxing - he said that the Webb fight paid of his mortgage
This sort of post really fcks me off tbh. Did you actually bother to read the rest of the thread before you wrote something so stupid?fightfan95 wrote: ↑16 Oct 2018, 06:01 Dave will definitely do well out of boxing - he said that the Webb fight paid of his mortgage, as I understand he doesn't gamble any longer and his sister is in control and helps him.
When he retires, I'm sure he will be a regular on Sky shows.
This was just a few posts before yours.

I'd say that he's on around 80-150k per fight... Isn't that the norm for the British level?
I remember Deeck Chisora was offered 250 grand to fight AJ when he was British Heavyweight Champion, but they always seem to pay over-the-odds for AJ's opponents.
I remember reading something that Matt Legg said (an early AJ opponent on the Froch/Groves II undercard... He said that he was able to "pay out" the rest of his mortgage with the money he was offered for the AJ bout.
Technically Allen could be putting a deposit down on a second house theretobyh5 wrote: ↑16 Oct 2018, 08:10This sort of post really fcks me off tbh. It was the main event on a setanta card, they were really pushing him so not to hard to believePredatorHayds wrote: ↑16 Oct 2018, 14:49 The Appleby figure is correct.
Hayemaker paid it, when they where paying big money for everything.
They thought Appleby was going to be a superstar.
It was a British title fight.
Alright mate calm down. I did read the post and I actually follow Dave on twitter so I've seen that as well. I only posted it because I heard him talking about paying of his mortgage in a video. In future I won't post without evidence.tobyh5 wrote: ↑16 Oct 2018, 08:10This sort of post really fcks me off tbh. He was paid less than £10k to fight Ortiz apparently, emallini wrote: ↑16 Oct 2018, 08:47hahahahaCrease wrote: ↑15 Oct 2018, 10:24 Allen wouldn't be a millionaire as of yet, but he's certainly on the way to becoming one, particularly if he keeps winning, staying popular and getting the nice purses in.

Browne just fought Julius Long and is now fighting some Samoan bloke called Junior Pati with a 12-22 record.lillywhite14 wrote: ↑18 Oct 2018, 15:37 I’m all for fighters earning well but Allen is already earning more money than some who have far more talent, ability and application.
He should be getting decent money but I’ve no idea how he manages to have the likes of even Lucas Browne discussing him as an opponent.
What I meant is, it’s strange to hear Browne, who has achieved a fair bit, calling out Dave Allen, who hasn’t really beaten anyone. His best result is a draw with Thomas, who Joyce destroyed 5 minutes in to his pro career!Gnome wrote: ↑18 Oct 2018, 16:50Browne just fought Julius Long and is now fighting some Samoan bloke called Junior Pati with a 12-22 record.lillywhite14 wrote: ↑18 Oct 2018, 15:37 I’m all for fighters earning well but Allen is already earning more money than some who have far more talent, ability and application.

The only thing strange if Allen should be his opponent afterwards, would be that it's such a big step up for Browne.
Browne didn’t call him out.lillywhite14 wrote: ↑19 Oct 2018, 01:32What I meant is, it’s strange to hear Browne, who has achieved a fair bit, calling out Dave Allen, who hasn’t really beaten anyone. I would be surprised if he doesn't pick up a title belt of some description.bripez wrote: ↑19 Oct 2018, 07:13 Fair play to Allen - he is getting opportunities and publicity far beyond his talent.
I think he needs to reign it in though - he is starting to get a bit giddy.
The next time he faces somebody of English level or above he is getting beat.
When he realises that he isn't going to win a title he will cash in, he will end up losing his final 10 fights. The problem will be that he likes to have this macho image of being able to take a shot etc, which wont do him any favours.
I tend to agree - he is after being gifted the Commonwealth title.leejonesjnr wrote: ↑19 Oct 2018, 07:49I would be surprised if he doesn't pick up a title belt of some description.bripez wrote: ↑19 Oct 2018, 07:13 Fair play to Allen - he is getting opportunities and publicity far beyond his talent.

I said something similar on this thread or maybe another. He is a likeable enough young man but so far he has been ‘the opponent’ or a supporting act for a bigger show rather than someone who is shifting tickets. His last contest where ticket sales might have mattered was at Walsall Town Hall on the undercard of Langford v Welborn which I believe only holds 900 for boxing anyway.bripez wrote: ↑19 Oct 2018, 07:54I tend to agree - he is after being gifted the Commonwealth title.leejonesjnr wrote: ↑19 Oct 2018, 07:49I would be surprised if he doesn't pick up a title belt of some description.bripez wrote: ↑19 Oct 2018, 07:13 Fair play to Allen - he is getting opportunities and publicity far beyond his talent.

He has become popular on Twitter, but I am not sure how that translates to ticket sales etc.?
He sold a good few for Brook-Spence.leejonesjnr wrote: ↑19 Oct 2018, 10:17I said something similar on this thread or maybe another.
