Per the California State Athletic Commission, official contract purses for Saturday night’s Premier Boxing Champions card on Fox:
Shawn Porter $1.25 million, Yordenis Ugas $300k,
Abel Ramos $50k, Francisco Santana $50k,
Efe Ajagba $8k, Amir Mansour $25k,
Damien Vazquez $15k, Juan Carlos Payano $5k,
Eimantas Stanionis $8k, Samuel Figueroa $10k,
Robert Guerrero $25k, Hevinson Herrera $1k,
Jesus Cuellar $40k, Carlos Padilla $1k.
Is that $8K figure for Ajagba accurate.? He can't be one of the lowest paid guys on the card.
Why do you say that? Do you think he draws enough ticket buyers on his own to be worth more at this stage of his career?
Absolutely. Certainly compared to Mansour, who is supposedly earning 3 times as much.
Ajagba is the fighter being pushed into the spotlight. Mansour is just the sacrificial victim.
There's a lot of social media buzz surrounding Ajagba. When Harper walked out of the ring, that brought quite a bit of mainstream attention to him.
He's a big, hard hitting heavyweight. Many fans are interested in seeing him. A lot of curiosity.
Does you think viewers are more eager to see Ramos or Santana, yet they're listed as being paid more than 5 times as much as Ajagba?
Doesn't make sense to me.

TBH. Before Harper walked out on their fight, this forum didn’t even talk about Ajagba.
He’s still a prospect, he’s not a big name, not even a name of you ask anyone. The whole Harper walking out pushed his name out there more. That’s it. I said on a different thread, it’s probably his highest purse.

Only hard-core fans even know who he is. Geez, he's just a 8 fight prospect without amateur pedigree. I love the kid, but he ain't selling tickets yet. This is the first name he's faced and the guy is over 40 and well past it.

Taking a pound off is crazy in two hours BUT taking nearly 1.8 pounds is excruciating hope the cuban targets that body, a real shame no UK broadcaster has picked this up...

Porter cut his hair to help him make weight. I think that's hilarious.

But yet the Ajagba fight will be televised. I believe it kicks off the main FOX telecast. Not the other prelims that will be shown on FS1.
That's an indication that there's already strong interest in showcasing him.
I'm not questioning Ajagba's current status as simply a prospect.
It just seems odd that a strapping power punching heavyweight fighter who seems to be attracting a following, would be paid so little.
Mansour isn't really a name either except to hardcores, yet he's earning a decent paycheck.
Maybe Ajagba will prove to be unhappy with tonight's wages and he'll pull a Harper and walk too

On your first point, he may have a cut of the viewership as he's on tv.
On your last point, you have me LMFAO!

Porter has a terrific amount of big fight experience.
But I think it's his high punch output that gives him the edge. Might be the busiest puncher among the welters.
But let's see if his weight problems drains him any, especially down the stretch.

It happens, one fight, someone looks right peak on their game, and the next. They lose to an upcomer.. could very well happen here.
Not many had Browne beating Jack. People kept saying Browne hasn’t had the experience, well TBH. no upcomer has that big fight experience until they actually fight a name.

Very true, porter seems to rely heavily on his physicality and heart. If that goes...maybe his record starts going.

Gosh if Ugas can land his average power shots 40% to the body*, poor Shawn Porter is going to be sore tomorrow.
*Taking a pinch of salt with every one of those statistic charts...

rd 2 - Ugas lands the heavy punches. Ugas.

r 3 - even
Porter experience is allowing him to fake out Ugas who is waiting. Ugas need to ramp it up as its not as though Porter is throwing a lot.
