To give the 30 or so fans who show up at Staples around 3 p.m. something to watch.

The televised portion of undercard has some decent fighters, but not against each other.

Both Hurd and Joyce are 1-100 favorites.

Ortiz, the best of the televised undercard boxers, is only a 1-30 choice.

Just bouts put together to showcase the stars. Very uncompetitive.

Chavez vs. Angulo is a doubt.

According to multiple sources in Mexico, there is a serious possibility that Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. will not return as planned this coming Saturday night.

Sources indicate that Chavez Jr. has not complied with the necessary medical exam requirements that are necessary to get licensed for the fight.

Angulo has been training with veteran coach Abel Sanchez in Big Bear, California.

This would be Angulo's first fight (24-7, 20 Ko's) since he lost a close battle with former world champion Sergio Mora in April of this year, in what was the Mexican boxer's debut in the super middleweight division.

Chávez Jr. (50-3-1, 32 KO's) has not fought since May 2017, when he faced Canelo Alvarez in a battle that was agreed-upon for a catch-weight of 164.5 pounds. Chavez, who was seriously weight drained, was dominated and lost a unanimous decision.

A few days ago, Chavez Jr. admitted in a revealing interview that he went to rehab to tackle a problem with substance abuse.

Chavez Jr. had been training first in Jalisco and then in California with Luis Cornejo, Eduardo Montiel and his uncle, Rodolfo Chávez.

It’s just likely gonna be a 8 rounder or something. They should have just gotten him a real opponent and had him fight on 15 Dec at Brentwood.

Yarde also fought a nobody fight on the Canelo vs. Smith card in US.
