having a clear winner wouldve put a lot more pressure on to make aj vs the winner

before it was all this stuff about aj needing to fight wilder but now wilders lost his status as that guy and fury didnt fully claim it either. imagine if wilder had sparked fury, claimed lineal, and beaten one of the big names in the division. then aj wouldve really been in a corner with ppl calling for that. wilder would absolutely have had a huge mandate that aj needed to fight him to make the hw king. but it didnt happen.

the draw also means aj could potentitally fight either next year, whereas fury winning wouldve triggered a rematch clause i think

neither wilder or fury seemed that excited about a rematch and wilders already saying he wants aj next i think, according to finkel

The draw wasnt really great or terrible for anyone involved.

The amusing thing I’ve started to notice is the myth that Fury is now mega popular and the number 1. Does anyone not think Wilder could beat him in a rematch? He was 0.3 seconds from beating him Saturday night in the final round. He didn’t drop him once, he dropped him twice. He also seemed to be half alright taking anything Fury landed on him.

I thought Wilder was poor and was I impressed and delighted with Fury. Let’s not get anything mixed up though, Wilder can absolutely win a rematch between the two. There’s room for improvement imo.

Joshua? Don’t be surprised if he Eddie makes the Wilder fight for April, then freezes Fury out just for spite. After Joshua splatters Wilder, you’ll be hearing things like ‘Fury Needs to beat Wilder first’ whilst lining up Miller, Whyte and Pulev.

I don’t think Hearn or Joshua will care one way or the other about Saturday’s result. Neither Fury nor Wilder looked particularly threatening (in fact, personally I think their stock has lowered somewhat rather than increased - it didn’t come across as a fight between 2 elite guys, just 2 above average heavies), and most casuals won’t even have seen it.

If I had repeatedly said that Wilder-Fury wouldn't happen I would feel very silly.

We all expected the winner to take centre stage, but it's now Joshua who's back in the driving seat. Fury and Joshua have beaten Klitschko, and most people feel that Fury beat Wilder. So that casts doubt on whether or not Wilder would've joined their club, leaving him in 3rd place for the time being. Before this fight he had a claim for 1st.

From the previous threeway, it's now very clearly Joshua > Fury > Wilder until proven otherwise. Wilder still has a coveted belt, but his price has tanked. Fury's also unable to demand 50:50 versus AJ, since he didn't win and has no belt. As an added bonus for Joshua, he now knows that Fury isn't to be taken lightly, and sees that he can knock Wilder out unless he's careless.

I think Joshua needs to act fast, though, else he might be at risk of too much mileage. He's bang in his prime.

Thats pretty solid when you consider that it was £55 to buy in the US. Need to do 825k £20 PPV buys here to match that.

It's not 1.9 million he's pulling ya leg. I'm hearing from allegedly its AJ vs Usyk next for April 13th. Fury might be at the Man Utd vs Arsenal game tonight.

I think Wilder's stock has fallen significantly. He showed he has no defence and Fury was hitting fairly cleanly but Fury wouldn't be the most powerful puncher. I now think that Wilder is avoiding AJ because he knows he has his number and AJ could very well have Wilder in trouble with those shots Fury got through.

Fury showed he still has it despite the lay off, he looked decent. He is the harder fight for AJ.
