I'm just taking a wild guess here but I'm thinking Breland not getting voted in might have something to do with the fact that there are numerous ibhof eligible boxers with solid overall resumes on every ballot and the hall only takes three a year.
Breland's amateur accomplishments should be enough. I don't think the IBHOF is pros only, is it?
That's what I thought. His post suggests otherwise.
I'm not suggesting...I'm asking...

It's supposed to be. The majority of the voters don't know who a guy like laciar is but vote for Calderon because they covered him and want to pretend they know about the little guys. I believe that amateur career has no bearing.

That's a shame. I went to the website and there is no criteria for induction, but from the list of inductees, it's all pro.

They do keep everything vague don't they?
Laszlo Papp is in the HOF. He has a couple of decent wins as a pro but nothing that impressive. He had a great amatuer career. He seems to be in almost entirely because of what he did as an amatuer.

You know? That was a great example of why I mentioned Breland's amateur accomplishments, and yet, it appears that all fighters in hall were pros. (I.E. No Teofilo Stevenson, or Felix Savon)

There is no amateur section at the ibhof but I don't think amateur accomplishments are completely ignored.
When the media reports the new ibhof members if any of them had standout amateur careers they always list their amatuer achievements, especially Olympic medals.
If you go to the ibhof webste and look at Whitaker's profile the first paragraph lists his amatuer achievements, the rest chronicles his pro career.
Same for Virgil Hill, Holyfield, Marc Johnson and probably many more if I take the time to look at all of them.
They wouldn't list amatuer achievements if they didn't matter.
IMO the ibhof needs to just add a separate section for amatuer fighters.
It needs a female section too.
