People are just very quick to believe Eddie hearns narrative. He always sold pre wlad, then fought away from home, and as far as I can tell the comebacks done ok. People just love a target, especially AJ groupies.
The rematch with Wlad Klitschko wasn't selling.
I would also say that the comebacks have done 'ok' but doing okay isn't what qualifies a boxer as an attraction.
The first comeback fight would have been his best seller I imagine as it was vastly boosted by the curiosity factor but there were plenty of empty seats.
The second contest, I dare say he added to the attendance but a Frampton fight at Windsor park was what sold that event.
Perhaps you believe that I am an 'AJ groupie' but the only relevance he has to this discussion is that he is a draw, possibly the biggest draw in boxing (Alvarez?).
Is Tyson Fury a draw now?

Re: Is Tyson Fury a draw now?
No one is being picked up by five different networks if they don't generate money. It's also worth noting he was the main event on each. And no promoter is offering multi million pound contracts if they aren't likely to see a return on that investment. You think Eddie Hearn and allegedly are prepared to shell out for their love of the sport?leejonesjnr wrote: ↑09 Dec 2018, 16:27Nonsense. You could read it that way, you could think ‘why didn’t any station fight to keep him?’.Steveh583 wrote: ↑09 Dec 2018, 17:29No one is being picked up by five different networks if they don't generate money. I’m not really interested in this becoming an argument, I think it’s pretty clear what his ticket/viewer drawing status has been up until this point. If you think he is already a big seller, meh, okay. I’ll assume that you think he will remain that way.

Genuine question. Has Fury ever sold out a venue with his name first on the poster?

Let's not forget that Fury fought on the undercard two fights ago.
He is simply not a big draw.
Anthony Joshua is a big draw and their numbers are incomparable.

Re: Is Tyson Fury a draw now?
You could similarly put that shoe on Wilder and say he has no intention of fighting Joshua but it doesn't fit your narrative.
Turning up (or not) to future opponents fights means nothing.

Windsor Park was aways gonna be for Frampton. AJ wouldn’t have even main evented that card.
It’s not like Fury fought a good opponent either.

He obviously hasn’t got any sponsorship commitments on that day...
Re: Is Tyson Fury a draw now?
Yeah, and I said that, called wilder and his team messers many times...
Nothing to do with narratives, im not interested in storylines
Proved people wrong fighting Ortiz and fury back to back though whether you like him or not

Hello Keith, hope you've stopped slapping your forehead

Re: Is Tyson Fury a draw now?
Who else is though at Heavyweight really? Only Joshua currently.
And seen as Fury has the personality, people are always gonna pay to watch him over anyone else at the minute, regardless of however many belts others have.
Josh has the personality of a “tin of paint”
And this is coming from someone who ain’t a Fury fan.

Re: Is Tyson Fury a draw now?
Personality only lasts when you have a watchable style though. Joshua sells more because of Eddie but most importantly because he is more exciting as a fighter. Knock outs draw people in.rob h wrote: ↑10 Dec 2018, 15:37 Who else is though at Heavyweight really? Only Joshua currently.

Take away the two knockdowns and Wilder Fury was quite boring to the casual.

Re: Is Tyson Fury a draw now?
I think it shows that people will tolerate fake humility in exchange for knock outs. They would likely do the same for idiotic shouting and fat belly wobbling if the fights weren’t dull.Coco wrote: ↑10 Dec 2018, 17:50IT just shoes how well Eddie can sellleejonesjnr wrote: ↑10 Dec 2018, 17:48Sooooo Fury sells more than Joshua?rob h wrote: ↑10 Dec 2018, 15:37 Who else is though at Heavyweight really?
