Froch retired, you could argue he 'refused' to fight Degale more so than GGG.
What makes you suggest that Carl Froch refused to face James DeGale?

I'm not sure it's even accurate to suggest that Froch "refused" to face GGG either, since the man from Nottingham was a retired fighter when the discussions took place and the terms of the bout weren't agreed (i.e. the weight). The Brit was the A-side and the B-side didn't agree to the terms.

People aren't trying to rewrite history, surely? Come one lads, let's see your proof. :TU:
I'm not accusing Froch of avoiding anyone, I was just using Degale as an example of a realistic fight that didn't happen due to his reyirement, as appose to the GGG fight that was never really on the cards.

My point was more that he didn't refuse to fight GGG because he was scared (which the poster had tried to imply), but that he simply retired and there were other far more realistic candidates who also missed out on fighting him.
OK I understand now. We seem to agree on this matter. :TU:

Froch took undefeated Groves out twice and then refused to fight GGG.

DeGale was the IBF mando, but after Froch beat Groves at Wembley he only wanted to avenge his only other defeat against Ward at Vegas.

He felt the DeGale fight would not do anything for him at that stage in his career. He’s probably right. It’s a fight me and my friends wanted to see though.

Carl Froch vacated the IBF super middleweight title due to the elbow injury that ruled him out of the clash with Julio César Chávez Jr.

I doubt Froch would have faced DeGale even if he hadn’t suffered the injury, as the Cobra had bigger fish to fry as he was chasing bouts against the likes of Chavez Jr., Hopkins and Ward.

And man oh man was he ever tilting at windmills with that plan...
