Gutted as there are fights in both cards I would like to see, but I won’t be buying either as they are not PPV level in my opinion.
I might be being simplistic here ...... but with these cards they get the PPV money plus advertising and sponsorship money.
A PPV card might get 200,000 viewers and a “free” show might get 2 million viewers.
They would lose the PPV subscription money, but surely the advertising revenue would increase to cover this?

Yeah, but probably not ten times as much. Advertisers pay a premium when you can nail down a specific demographic. I'm guessing they flog PPVs as the 'hardcore boxing fan/borderline trainspotter/guilible fool' demographic?

Josh has all the Leeds fans across the country buying, Quigg never had that fan base.
When Warrington was with Sky his viewing figures when he headlined were low compared to other Sky shows (much lower than some).
Whilst his fanbase has grown since then I can’t see 250,000 Leeds fans buying the fight particularly when there’s a competing show that’s had far more publicity.
Warrington does great with ticket sales, less for an overall following
Because football fans in general don’t like Leeds.

Unsurprisingly.

If Chisora vs Whyte was FW/BT card and Frampton vs Warrington a Matchroom/Sky card, the featherweights would clearly outsell the heavies.
Hearn has the Sky PR machine in overdrive and the casuals lap it up! Whyte being featured on the darts being one such example.
FWIW, I’m buying neither - got a 50th birthday party to go to and will check on here for updates (if I was purchasing, would be Carl vs Josh).
As said previously by someone, only way the PPV madness stops is if punters stop buying the product en masse!

So football fans/casual boxing fans don’t watch Warrington fights on the TV because he’s a Leeds fan?

I've no love for FW but as he'd already announced his show for tonight well in advance ( by the way not a PPV event). Hearn's much later announcement of his show (also not PPV worthy) was nothing more than a cynical ploy to disrupt the Manchester event financially, as part of his campaign against FW.
Whatever else Hearn thinks he's doing, he's abusing the trust of boxing fans in the UK. To ask the public to choose between 2 PPV events 3 days before Christmas is just selfish. One PPV was bad enough but to add to the situation is a disgrace.
It looks like the Hearn show is winning the pre-publicity war as far as the general media is concerned, and I can imagine Hearn sitting drinking his coffee this morning with a permanent sneer on his face.
FW is just as bad, and the two of them deserve each other, but its us , mere mortals, who are caught in the crossfire. They are killing the 'fatted calf' before our very eyes.
Professional boxing cannot survive without the public , live and on TV, paying up , and attracting the businesses buying advertising space because of the numbers.
My only consolation is the fact that all the 'big' promoters eventually fade out - Solomons, Levene, Duff, FW, Hearns ...........
I want fw card to out do hearn by big numbers as i want him to fall flat on his face with this dirty trick he has pulled

Yeah PPV sucks, especially when the card doesn’t even come close to warranting it. But the only way to stop it is to not buy.
Ye bb every just boycot both shows,iv been sayin it for years

I think there are many of us that are hating on Hearn this weekend. I’ll buy Warrington Frampton because theyre the better fighters in my opinion. But I’d have purchased both. In fact if I believed Hearns retort about how hard it was to book a different date, I’d have probably purchased both and flicked between during rounds as I love to watch boxing, but it’s simply not true and it’s prickish behaviour. I’m now having to coach myself into not buying both to give him the rating!

Just as another aside, to prove how vindictive Hearn can be, he has never forgiven Frampton for leaving, even though Frampton is no longer with McGuigan.
McGuigan wanted Hearn to put one of Frampton's fights on PPV, but the bold Eddie replied that Frampton didn't have the fanbase. Shortly after McGuigan/Frampton left the ship, and Hearn remains bitter. He's determined to use Frampton as an example , suggesting that if you leave Matchroom you'll lose out.
So in my opinion there's a double-barrelled reason for tonight's shenanigans.
Wouldn't it be great if Chisora marches out in the first round and deliberately butts Whyte, bursting his eye , and gets disqualified.

True - I am sure I saw Frampton at a presser saying he would slap young Edward! - now I would pay PPV to see that, even though it would only last a few seconds.
Eddie did an interview with talk sport the other day and said that Frank was once young like him and controlled boxing like he does now - I am no fan of Frank but he was well out of order and needs knocking down a peg or two.

I haven't bought a PPV event for well over 18 months. I don't even bother streaming. I'll just catch up later on.
I've just had enough of it all to be honest. Especially when it went up to £20 for Joshua vs Klitschko and then never came back down for the likes of Whyte vs Parker.
Suppose everyone has a line and mine has been crossed.

The pricing of these PPVs is allowing him to get away with it. It’s a score for a nights boxing. Hard to say no when you’re looking at a fiver a pint in some pubs.

Sky should just have a monthly subscription boxing channel. Maybe offer the big events as a PPV to non subscribers. I'd probably buy in to that. Say a tenner a month just for that channel. 120 a year. That actually more than what you'd pay buying every PPV but if they concentrated on their content and produced more quality shows along with the bigger shows I wouldn't mind paying out.
Not a bad idea but it’s would soon become lesser quality fights as the years go by follows by introduction of more ppvs and end up with certain fights going to ppv on the designated boxing channel too!
Basically it’s full of scumbag scammers trying to take as much dough from fans as possible.
