Exactly,my mate who watches boxing but doesn't really know it like he knows football or horse racing,he buys every anthony joshua ppv and iv tried to talk him out of ppv's that arnt ppv worthy but he just shrugs his shoulders and says "its AJ tho init" and these are the type of people that makes tge ppv train chug along nicely. Its the main boxers that are wrecking boxing imo, they wont fight for less than a good few million so the tv conpany has to throw it on ppv to make up their wage and its us fans who get squeezed like lemons.
I noticed when Joshua got in the ring last week with Whyte he was going on about his ' worth'.It's good that he has control of his career but i personally hate to hear boxers talk like that, another one who does it is Khan, really grates on me :witzend:
I hate it,his worth? He is a fighter or he isnt, mike tyson didnt talk worth neither did rocky marciano or ali so if these clowns of 2018 want to follow in the footsteps of the legends iv mentioned then dint even talk about money, say who you want to fight your manager and promotor will make the fight happen and you get your pay at the end its really that simple. Fights should be made 50/50 with a win bonus cause im sick of hearing about joshua's worth,he has made enough money now to keep him till he dies of old age. If your a fighter fight but if your into money become a bank manager or work in stock exchange.
Joshua needs to remember that he's a fighter first before he finds himself on the seat of his pants counting his coin.

Exactly, imagine if Hagler,Hearns,Duran and Leonard all argued about their 'worth',really does make me sick, even Hatton did it with Witter, refusing him a payday.

Thing is, those guys knew they had to fight the best for big bucks. It makes you more willing to take on tough fights for less money. The monetary system in the US is so broken down that guys who are willing for challenges are put on the shelf because the money isn't there for top clashes customer they pay bank for shit like Leonard/Finch.

Anyone been to a small hall show recently?

Last one I went to was local tough v Latvian C throughout the card. It wasn't sport and it wasn't entertainment, it was boring (and 30 quid).

I haven't been back since.

Small hall shows were/are where local kids create their following ... nowadays it’s relied more upon them being part of an Olympic development squad first and the promoter paying off the Bunces to write over hyped pieces on them to create interest.

Giving good fights is what traditionally sold a fighter to the public. But now any old rubbish is regarded as a great fight ... Wilder v Fury for example!
There two very limited guys demonstrated their lack of skill for 12rnds and it gets hailed by the just as useless journalists like Bunce as a great fight!!

It’s a shame that you got rubbish like Joshua demanding multi millions to fight tomato cans - yet you got the Warringtons who’s first priority is wanting to fight the best for the glory and the payday is secondly important.

x2 the likes of Sky tv ruined boxing, the general public knew Bruno,Benn, Eubank, McGuigan etc, once they started to migrate over the audience became limited and slowly the new breed of British stars were unknown.I used to chat boxing in work and everyone knew all the boxers, eventually nobody except the real hardcore fans knew who i was talking about.
It's a big debate. There's an argument sky kept actually boxing going in the UK even if cards were hit and miss.

Terrestrial TV would improve things. For example no one knows about Callum smith beating George Groves. Totally forgotten probably a few thousand watched it live. Imagine that on ITV 1 at 10pm and staged in the UK. Would have views of around 3 million I reckon.

Then again Hatton never fought on terrestrial.
19 million watched McGuigan v Pedroza
19 million at a time of 4 channels and no other ways to watch shows on other platforms; Netflix etc.

3 million is an accurate forecast i reckon

Whatever platform you watch it on,it's never going to attract 19,000,000 for one fight, boxing simply isn't anywhere near as popular as it used to be because it was taken away from the mainstream channels

Ok,thought you meant the viewing figures would be much higher taking into account other ways to view
