Porter is 5’ 5” at best even though his bio boasts 5’ 6”. Sure he’s wide but no one would ever classify Porter as a big WW. Traditionally, he’s small for the weight and should never fight above 147. That’s his limit.

Again, I’d have to disagree with you. Porter has never had issues making the weight. He’s a former wrestler and that sport is 80% about making the lowest weight class that you could get to. He’s a pro at cutting weight and never looks drawn or without energy inside the ring.

FYI, there’s not an elite WW in the world now or in the past that hasn’t gone through hell to make 147 for a big fight. None of these guys are eating to get to 147. They all are losing at last 15-30 pounds entering camp. If they aren’t then they should be fighting at 140.

Some WW’s have the frames to travel historically like SRL, The Hitman, Crawford and Spence too. But Porter would have huge issues beating any of the top ten 152 pounders. He gives up way too many attributes (height, arm length, angle of attack). I’ll go out and say that we will never see Porter fight any of the current ranked 152’s. I’m a short guy myself so I’m always rooting for the little guy but that’s nutso.

I have Hurd winning and size matters,

Brook may have fought GGG (and GGG fans accused Brook of being the bigger man LOL)
and Spence may also be a very large welterweight but...

Both are bang average to actually small 154lbers, Trout and Lara are both bigger than them IMO.

Hurd isn't 5ft11, he's 6ft1 with 76.5". Hurd isn't just tall he's solid as a rock too.

Hurd is a freak of a Jr middleweight, how he maintains his strength and fitness @ 154 is insane and can't last forever.

As long as it lasts I can't see anyone beating him tbh

You’re talking about two completely different weight classes. Heck, it’s slmost 2 different sports when discussing Jr MW and Cruiserweights. In the larger weight classes, speed can neutralize size. At 152, everyone is fast and big so it’s not a great comparison at all even though I love when anyone mentions Qawi because he was a blast to watch. I almost wanted to agree with you for just mentioning him but I couldn’t. Lol

Sure, but if Porter is too small for 154 at your reported 5'5", even though I think he really is 5'6" despite fighting above 154, Canelo is too small for 168 at 5'7". Both are very stocky and strong fighters.

I see your point man. It’s a nice example using Canelo even though I don’t think that he and Porter are anywhere close to having the same boxing ability. But I do see your point but let’s also realize that Canelo’s trip up the scale has been calculated. He has identified the weakest belt holders around his weight class and cherry picked them. You won’t see Canelo move up and elect to fight Hurd or Charlo. The only reason that he moved up to fight Lara was because he knew Lara was light for the division and he could outweigh him significantly on fight night. I think that fight was actually negotiated at 155 if I’m not mistaken.

I forget where I was going with this dammit. Good point by you but I think that Porter is too limited in skill to be effective against larger opposition. The bull in a china closet approach doesn’t work with the bigger, stronger opponents in my opinion
