I can't see Ward dropping that much weight for Callum Smith, or anyone else for that matter. It would have to be non-title at LHW. In all frankness, I don't see Ward coming back at all at this point, after a year and a half out of the game and pushing 35 y/o.

I certainly dont see him coming back to fight Callum Smith in a non title fight in the North of England

How seriously are we to take all the Ward comeback rumours?
Is he suddenly going to make a comeback in the vein of Sugar Ray Leonard, with a series oh high profile catchweight superfights?
For instance, Smith considerably over the 168 limit
Usyk closer to the old cruiserweight limit of 190
Etc etc
Not sure if his name sparkles enough for all this, he’d want a King’s Ransom plus all conditions stacked heavily in his favour & i’m not certain it’d be worth it for his potential opponents.

This fight isn't happening, no chance. It's a bizzare choice anyway, nobody in the UK gives a toss about Ward, he's not a ticket seller outside his home state, so why bring over a guy who can't make 168 and will want a king's ransom to travel?
I think this is all just hot air and bollocks myself before they climb down and pick an easy defence.

Unless there’s an Arena called Anfield in Oakland then there’s no way Ward is fighting there.

I loved Ward. The Son Of God bullying Froch and Kovalev were two of my favourite fights.

i admire his skills id been watching out for him since reading a section about him in 'A Fighters heart' but didnt enjoy watching him fight. agree that those wins were highly impressive though.

If Smith wants to fight in a stadium, he should get on to Tranmere rovers about using their gaff.
Seriously though, I think all this big talk of stadiums, former p4p fighters and potential unifications is just to soften the blow when Hearn announces an ok-ish opponent, like Ryder.
It wouldn't surprise me at all if Hearn even manages to find a way to give Jamie Cox the fight.

yes, terrible to watch. an elite level, highly athletic fighter who chose to foul and spoil.
I also feel if he'd have made regular title defences, he'd have worn out fairly soon for a stoppage defeat. he found the summit but I don't think he had it physically to remain there. especially at light heavyweight, with numerous knockout punching contenders. he delivered in the big fights then didn't really want to do anything.

I don't know about the physicality, it's just a mindset really, to beat opponents by not allowing them to fight. It's certainly effective, but it's why he's never really had much of a fanbase. Outside of hardcore fans who appreciate the skill required, it's just not appealing, to be honest, even if you do appreciate it, it's not appealing, not for me anyway.
