Duhaupus isn't hard to hit by any means. Joyce is more than slightly bigger puncher than Hrgovic. Sorry it's so puzzling to you.

Duhaupas is extremely durable, probably too durable for his own good. He won't beat Hrgovic or Joyce and he will ship a lot of punches.

Joyce is slow but heavy handed and Duhaupas will be soaking up heavy leather. It'd be easier on him if Joyce KOd him but with the exception of the short-notice Povetkin debacle, that doesn't tend to happen to JD.

Johann Duhaupas is simply an opportunist journeyman seeking to secure a decent payday. He’s already tasted defeat to the likes of Francesco Pianeta and Erkan Teper, so he isn’t likely to pose any serious threat to the likes of Filip Hrgovic and Joe Joyce.

And to be honest, I feel that Hrgovic and Joyce are already mixing it with better opponents than Duhaupas and a victory over this journeyman doesn’t carry any sort of credibility, unless both rising prospects force the stoppage within five rounds.

This is less about Duhaupas’ alleged bravery and more about a 38-year-old desperately trying to seek decent retirement funding paydays.

OK, when I use the word “better”, I guess I really mean more accomplished, bigger name or a “superior” reputation - not necessarily "better" in terms of in-ring talent.

For sure, Duhaupas is certainly capable, though not guaranteed, to defeat the likes Amir Mansour, Kevin Johnson and Bermane Stiverne, the Frenchman’s poor run of form and anonymity won’t enhance Hrgovic and Joyce’s reputations.

I just don’t think that Hrgovic and Joyce really need to face Johann Duhaupas, since they’re already facing and stopping guys considered as being of a similar ilk.

I won’t be outraged seeing Johann Duhaupas being matched up with Filip Hrgovic and/or Joe Joyce – I just won’t be interested in those bouts, as I think that neither will be competitive, and we won’t learn anything new from them.

I agree with onetimeonly - Duhaupus' chin could negate Dubois' power and possibly grind down the Englishman, however Hrgovic should be able to box rings around the Frenchman.

I think you're right and he is wise to do it now, BEFORE either Hrgovic or Joyce get to good for him.

I think Johann Duhaupas has been a pretty solid top 15 - 20 fighter, now probably slipped outside the top 20. I think he is still the best fighter faced so far by Joyce or Hrgovic. It's debatable whether he was better than Amir Mansour but I think he is now, i.e. I don't think he has deteriotated as far as Mansour has/had when Hrgovic beat him.

I would take him to beat Stiverne now as well, although again I think the Stiverne who twice beat Arreola would probably do the same to any version of Duhaupas.

I wouldn't turn my nose up at JD fighting Joyce or Hrgovic but I think they would both breeze past him. It's probably a better fight for Hrgovic in that Joyce really needs to get his skates on once he's crushed Stiverne. Miller doesn't want to know about Joyce, why should he?, but if Joyce could interest Ortiz that might be a sensible next step. Kownacki could be too.
