It is best just to ignore any WBA belt or champion. They are total crap with their million belts system.

Manuel Charr is still the WBA 'Regular' champion.
Trevor Bryan is the WBA 'Interim' champion.
This is confusing. Isn't Anthony Joshua the WBA Champion?
Indeed, and Fres Oquendo is Challenger Emeritus...

I have often wondered what the hell inactive boxers do with themselves between fights. Domic Breazele is another which could be on that list with 13 months between his last 2 fights.
Do these guys have part time jobs or what? Unless they are independantly wealthy, surely boxers would need at least 2 fights a year with a noteable opponent to cover training costs and daily living.

Trevor Bryan is ranked #1 by the WBA so I don't think we will see him in the ring with anyone of note until he gets either Joshua or Charr
Bryan is WBA Regular Champion, if I'm not mistaken. I don't really regard Bryon too highly, but how does this inactivity help him prepare for either Joshua or Charr which is like Filet Mignon to Corn Beef Hash.
Trevor Bryan is interm champ
Charr is still regular champ
Joshua is super champ
WBA titles come in Super, Regular, Interim, Global, Emeritus, Family, and Economy size.
I understand they're working on a few new ones.

That's because they have more belts than all the organizations combined!

Right now, none of the top 25 heavyweights are scheduled for a fight.
Seems to me promoters are being slow to make meaningful fights between contenders.
Why is Whyte so reluctant to sign the contract to fight Fury? He's wasting a lot of time. Why is the date for the Usyk-Joshua rematch still undecided? Why is Andy Ruiz wasting his prime with inactivity?
We need more contender vs contender fights in the division, instead of more like the many mismatches we had last year.

Most of the top-ten world rated heavyweights have either recently fought (within the last five months) or have been inactive due to surgery to address injuries.
And of course, Fury-Whyte is just waiting for the official fight-date to be announced.

Good question. He has only fought 6 times in the past 5 years. With all his work in the gym after his loss to AJ in 2019, I would have expected at least 1 more stay busy type fight last year

Andy Ruiz Jr. actually engaged in ten bouts within a five-year spell between 2016 to 2021, but had to undergo knee surgery pretty much immediately after his most recent outing against Chris Arreola.
He’s only just recovered from the knee surgery and is currently out-of-shape, which means we probably won’t see him compete again until the summer months.

Normally after 5 months of inactivity, shouldn't some of those heavyweights not have a fight scheduled for say, two or three months from now?
And I said top 25, not just the top ten. None of the top 25 on BoxRec have a fight scheduled. I don't think it's good for the fighters to have nothing scheduled for so long. And it causes fans to lose interest.

I haven’t checked the ratings from 11 to 25, but your claims about the top-ten world-rated heavyweights are untrue.

Perhaps I really do have a reading disability, who knows? But I must have found an ability to educate myself somehow, which I can give you tips on if you’d like?
Anyway, the vast majority of the top-25 world-rated heavyweights have recently fought within the last three to five months, with nearly all of the remainder being inactive due to injuries.
We also need to remember there were seven top-25 world-rated heavyweights that appeared on the Fury-Wilder III fight card.
We’ll probably see a similarly stacked card for the April 23rd Fury-Whyte event.
I also believe that boxing has traditionally always had “seasons” where there are very few events staged during specific periods of the year (to avoid programming clashes in the sporting calendar).
I just don’t feel there’s a problem- there’s always peaks and troughs when it comes to the scheduling of heavyweight bouts.

Let's take this forum's Top 15 HWs
1.

Tyson Fury - 31(22) 0 1 - October 2021
2.

Oleksandr Usyk - 19(13) 0 0 - September 2021
3.

4.

Deontay Wilder - 42(41) 2(2) 1 - October 2021
5.

Dillian Whyte - 28(19) 2(2) 0 - March 2021
6.

10.

Kubrat Pulev - 28(14) 2(2) 0 - December 2020
11.

Efe Ajagba - October 2021
Arslanbek Makhmudov - September 2021
Michael Hunter - December 2021
Martin Bakole - September 2021
Hughie Fury - October 2021
Charles Martin - January 2022
Agit Kabayel - June 2021
Adam Kownacki - October 2021
Daniel Dubois - August 2021
Ali Eren Demirezen - January 2022
Johann Duhaupas - November 2021

Simon Kean - June 2021
There's been quite a lot of action recently.

Yoka’s fight with Bakole is rescheduled now.
Should have been Jan, but covid messed with that. And yeh most HW’s do tend to fight on a card which is headlined by HW’s these days.

Only 6 of the top 50 heavyweights currently have a fight scheduled:
https://boxrec.com/en/ratings?r%5Brole% ... 5D=a&r_go=
Covid restrictions are no longer a good excuse for promoters and managers leaving boxers inactive. The fighters coming off a loss from last year, need to get back in the ring - a long period of inactivity after a loss can sometimes ruin a fighter.

Is Wilder-Helenius anywhere near being actually confirmed? Also got Hughie Fury-Hunter rumoured to be November 12th, and Wardley-Gorman for the British title sometime in the fall. Sprong-Tabiti on the AJ card as well.

August 20: Hrgovic - Zhang
August 20: Usyk - AJ
August 26: Gassiev - Welch (who?)
August 27: Ajagba - Darmos (who?)
September 4: Ruiz - Ortiz

October (?): Wilder - Helenius

For Ajagba there's no point in coming back against a noname. He lost in a mild fashion, so to speak. I mean, there was no battery or injuries. Just got schooled. And now he has no 0 to protect. So, there's logic to take on challenging fights, to prove that you can do it. Yet he faces a noname.

With all the recent activity within the heavyweight division, I'm somewhat surprised at the lack of activity among some fringe contenders and prospects, such as...
Agit Kabayel:_____ Last fight 4/2018
Ivan Dychko:_____ Last fight 7/2018
Andy Ruiz Jr:_____ Last fight 7/2018 (hasn't missed a meal though)
Tony Yoka:_____ Last Fight 6/2018 (back from suspension...no fight scheduled or even rumored)
Izuagbe Ugonoh: __Last Fight 5/2018
Jermaine Franklin: _Last Fight 7/2018
Trevor Bryan _____ Last Fight 8/2018
Yet, these guys retain their ranking or have even moved up over the time from their last bout. seems odd to me.
Most of the heavyweight division is not active. The demand for fights is not there or the simply do want to fight. Otherwise these fringe contenders would at the very least fight each other, Yet they hope for Wilder or Fury like cherry picks.
