Gotta go with vitali.
I dunno. Vitali never needed controversial decisions to beat fringe contenders. I don't remember Vitali appearing on any pound for pound lists either.
Broner was hyped more, and achieved less. He never even had a brother blocking his path to most of the belts, or a pathetically weak division to excuse the lack of names on his record either. Old man Pacquiao just smashed Broner. Vitali was smashing old Lennox, before that cut happened (not saying he would have won, but at least he put up a fight).
Broner took 'overhyped' to a whole new level.
Vitali is constantly listed on here as being an atg despite having zero wins of note. Broner isn't on anyone's list, vitali has a garbage resume, he lost to the two best fighters he faced and fans still suck him off. It's not broners fault fans still fall for his limitations
He wouldn't be anywhere near my own atg list, but I can't account for others' poor judgement. I was more talking about hype from the media, rather than fans. Every boxer you care to mention has at least some fans that massively overrate them. Broner was p4p rated for a while, but I don't remember Vitali being rated anywhere near.
Worth remembering that Vitali was way ahead in one of those fights, before retiring with an injury, and was also winning the other (against an actual great, although not the best version) before getting that cut. Broner has also lost his biggest fights - in far more clear cut fashion.
Also 'falling for someone's limitations' is exactly what hype is. I'm not saying it's Broner's fault people think he's better than he is. I'm just saying they do/did.

You could even argue Granados and Paulie...
Those could have gone either way though.

If Broner would not be so dumb, i would think he is actually very smart. If he had normal inteligence and decent character, he would be forgotten after Maidana fight. But because he is a total a--hole, people wanna see him lose again and again. Mayweather built career on that mg. Broner is 3 times more idiot than Floyd ever was and has 20% of his boxing skill. He can sell himself to the public very well. I won´t say he is overrated, he is just too popular.

Considering no one here rates him high at all (except on the bizarre meter), you're most probably correct! LOL!

How could anyone forget that vitali was ahead? It's the two most glorious losses in boxing history. Imagine if broner had a brother and they gave him credit for his siblings wins?

The pathetic thing is that Broner should be in his prime years now. Difficult to remember he's only 29. We are all looking BACK on his career when we might otherwise be looking ahead. What a waste of talent.
What talent did he waste? He's very consistent, just never had what fans hoped for or wanted. Like a poor man's zab
Seemed to me he just didn't put the work in, so he must have some level of talent, given his accomplishments. Was never the same after kissing the canvass against Maidana. Maybe I give him too much credit.
You weren't alone. I took a drubbing around here for months saying he had no chance against maidana.

Broner is too flawed mentally to be great. Too insecure.
Like Zab Juda.

You're bias against the facts and just want to spew out your own agenda.
OK, instead of making unsubstantiated sweeping statements, why don’t you instead quote my words and then challenge my thoughts head-on?
You say all sorts of things about me but rarely justify it.
I just showed you the facts and you still want to carry on with your agenda. I already challenged you head-on. I've not seen a response yet except whining. Go ahead and argue what I brought up.
All you’ve written is hot air - a load of trolling nonsense.
You ignore facts, because you don’t feel as though they’re relevant.

Who even hyped Broner? Or even rates him?
If I were to be honest at the beginning I was fooled he look like he had potential however the lack of training and taking boxing seriously evaporated as he started to step up he got very much exposed..

He was really good at 135. Unlike Floyd he didn't have the discipline to hone his craft at the lower weights before moving up. Now he's nothing more than a fringe contender with a big mouth who can talk his way into bigger paydays than his ability warrants. Crawford would absolutely clown him.

The titles in four weight classes at the young age gets thrown around hyping him up.
I think knowledgeable fans have been on to the fact that he isn't anything special for awhile now, but you wouldn't believe how often friends of mine who are more casual fans would ask about him. Trinkets and good matchmaking makes for an easy hype job and exhibit A is a guy like Broner.

The hype, the belts, the notoriety. All have benefited Adrien Broner's status in the sport. But between the ropes, he just hasn't proven to be anything special.

Agreed! That’s precisely what I’ve been saying.
The only person that hypes Broner, is himself!
Back in the day there was talk about him being the next Mayweather. Seriously

Broner has most of the tools, good power and speed not neglecting his chin but he really pissed everything away cause of his lazyness in the ring, and no focus on the game at hand or any heart to work hard for a victory.
And also there are so many heavyweight hypejobs since the 1910's. The latest I can think of his Tye Fields, Michael Grant, Frans Botha and more how had padded records.

I beg to disagree. AB have a brief moment when everyone is hyping him as the next Mayweather. But that was a long time ago. Never the same when he lose to Maidana. What keeps him relevant is the fact that most of fans wants to see him lose. He's not being hyped in the past 6 years, he's just relevant because he has a villain type of character. If you're looking for someone who's hyped you should look for the likes of Khan.
