Romanov defeated Wilder in 2008 and became Russian National Gold Medal Champion in 2009, but he didn't turn pro until 2016. Why the long time gap?

It is unclear what he was doing between 2010 and 2016.

Romanov remind me of a young Povetkin.

KRK “Uralets”, Ekaterinburg, Russia
Evgeny Romanov 11 0 0
vs
Dillon Carman 14 3 0
Romanov won by 1st round KO
Surprised a warrior like Carman folded that early... chinny but usually has enough heart to overcome some shaky talents... Romanov's hook and pressure was too much... probably the pay too.

Re: Dillon Carman vs Evgeny Romanov Feb 22
I've always regarded Carman as someone who is in exciting fights who either gets 'em or gets got. I formed this opinion following his early fights with Sylvera Louis. I was not that surprised when he clobbered Simon Kean and even less so when he was crushed by Miljas and Romanov.
As heavyweight scenes go, there aren't more than one or two better than Canada's and Dillon Carman is very much a part of that even if others are rightly expected to progress a lot further.
