I didn't know Max Kellerman was there.

I don't remember, how exactly I had it, but the fight was obviously taken by Tommy wide. He outboxed Foreman fair-and-sqare, Big George didn't do enough to win and had almost no notable success.

Excellent controlled performance from Morrison, outboxed Foreman more comprehensively than anyone else did

Another reporter came up to Foreman after the fight and said "George, you really didn't think you could be a young gun like Morrison did you." Foreman replied: "No, not really".

I don't think there has ever been any controversy about this fight. No idea who the reporter was, but there is always somebody that is going to argue a decision.

It was obviously an advantage in the Lewis vs Mavrovic fight. It was really fighters in two different weight divisions fighting. Pro boxing needs a super heavyweight division, and better yet even more than one extra heavy weight division. The little guys have weight classes separated by a ridiculous 2 or 3 pounds, and even the light heavyweight division is now precious, only 7 pounds wide, 168-175, but a 201 pound man is in the same division as the giants that now dominate heavyweight boxing.

There was no controversy in the decision of the judges, which is why I said in the OP that I was amazed how much better the commentators and judges and ref was back then. They were all fair and honest, at least in this case. I am not used to seeing that - and then an honest boxing decision! I almost fainted!

Except that the evidence shows over and over that at certain point size doesn't help you; in fact at a certain point it hurts you. Typically, stamina, defense, workrate disadvantages become too much. Lennox Lewis is the only really big heavyweight in the history of the sport to be great for an extended period. And even he struggled with an smaller opponent who was nothing special.

The reason that Mavrovic was as competitive as he was was because he was faster than Lewis. If he weighed 30 pounds more, that advantage does away and his "advantages" of getting bigger would be negligible. His power would not increase much if at all. He already could take the punishment.
A guy weighing another guy 245-215 is not nearly the same as a guy outweighing another guy 145-115.
The last thing we need in boxing is a Super heavyweight class.
I do agree that there are too many weight classes in the lower weight classes.

Hunter is a good fighter. But he is far from being a top heavyweight in my opinion.
I don't understand the hype

there are men smaller than Hunter who I would pick to beat some super heavies like Ward and Bivol but that doesn't mean I would pick them against the elite or suggest we eliminate the light heavyweight and cruiserweight divisions. I mean does anyone think Andre Ward couldn't beat Kevin McBride?

They aren't actually dominating smaller heavyweights. There are very few smaller heavyweights to dominate. The major exception being Wilder. He has been outweighed in every fight for several years. The big heavyweights have not been able to beat him and he certainly has some weaknesses.

Which is what is really interesting about this fight. Morrison almost never fought like that at all in other fights. It was a smart way for him to fight against Foreman. Not many thought he would or could box like that.
