Then he shouldn't have been rambling on about a top five contender. Also, this will enable Tyson to stray off the beaten trail and maybe get some old habits back without a sense of urgency. Not a smart move.SenorPipino wrote: ↑21 Mar 2019, 19:27 Arum appears strictly interested in getting Fury exposure for his first ESPN bout. I don't think that Arum is looking for an opponent here who is vaguely competitive.

Oh well. He was also promising a huge step up for Teofimo Lopez.

Fans were counting on someone in line with perhaps Pedraza.
Can't see Tatli remotely outfoxing or outboxing Lopez.
And he's not a guy with a puncher's chance.

What other heavyweights within the Top Rank & Queensberry stables that can be used?tiny_acres wrote: ↑21 Mar 2019, 14:22Fury vs Jennings WTF???
This fight should be announced within the next 2 weeks according to numerous reports on other forums.
Talk about a let down
Joseph Parker "seems" to work exclusively with Matchroom nowadays, with Top Rank only being joint promoters, who are only able to promote the Kiwi if he competes on US soil. I believe Parker is being lined-up to headline an event where he’ll be facing Dereck Chisora anyway.
To be honest, I thought Parker would have been Fury's next opponent, but the Kiwi will inevitably face the the fighter that provides him with the best payday.
Kubrat Pulev is waiting patiently for his IBF mandated title shot against Anthony Joshua. He has bigger fish to fry.
Nathan Gorman and Daniel Dubois are domestic level novices that are unknown in the US. The same applies to Guido Vianello and Sonny Conto.
I can’t think of any other heavyweights that work Top Rank or Queensberry.

"Tyson Fury vs. Tom Schwarz Showdown Reportedly in Play"
According to a report on ESPN Deportes, Twenty-four-year-old German contender Tom Schwarz, with an unbeaten record of 24 wins and 16 knockouts, is the frontrunner to become the next opponent of Britain's Tyson Fury in his debut as Top Rank fighter.
An official announcement regarding Fury's fight will be made this Saturday during Top Rank's ESPN televised card from California.
Sources close to the organization of the Fury fight told ESPN Deportes that although several names were considered, in the end Schwarz was the one who came forward and it is simply a matter of hours before it becomes official, unless there is something that implodes the final touches.
Schwarz, at nearly 6'6 and usually weighing around 24-pounds, has knocked out five of his last six opponents, but never faced anyone close to the level of Fury and only fought once outside of Germany.
A few weeks ago it had been said that the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas will be the venue and date of Fury's first match was being pushed as June 15.
Thoughts?

Well at least Schwartz has a shiny zero on his resume. That's a selling point.
A German fighter with absolutely no name recognition. This fight won't sell well

If you'd said Schwarz and Takam were the opponents for Fury and Usyk next, you'd assume each man was facing the ones being reported.
Not sure what that even demonstrates really

A Tyson Fury victory over Tom Schwarz would elevate the Brit’s position in both the IBF & WBO rankings. The anonymous German is currently rated 2nd by the WBO and 8th by the IBF.tiny_acres wrote: ↑22 Mar 2019, 05:22Just when you think it can't get worse. Top Rank are clearly attempting to manoeuvre the Brit into achieving mandatory challenger status with the WBO in order to force the purse bid, potentially allowing ESPN to win the rights to televise a potential Joshua-Fury super-fight.
Bob Arum has a very cosy relationship with the WBO. And I’m pretty sure that ESPN and Top Rank would find a way to compensate Tyson Fury for having to accept the WBO's typical 25% mandatory challenger purse split, with Joshua receiving the remainder.

Schwartz can bring the German market into the equation. Fury having beaten Klitschko in Germany helps build his profile, it also gives him exposure in America with it being on ESPN+ and in Vegas. It makes sense to roll the dice, even if losing his 0 is a likely outcome.
Re: Fury vs Jennings WTF???
It's about the same bad option as Jennings. Well, Jennings is decent, but he has just lost and had lost all his biggest fights. Schwarz has only fought tomato cans, he's just a prospect. And The Gypsy King should fight other Kings, you all know which ones. Well, at least some top-10 guys, cause those two other fellas are busy already..Enlightened-One wrote: ↑22 Mar 2019, 05:17 "Tyson Fury vs. Tom Schwarz Showdown Reportedly in Play"
