Re: Gorman Shuts Out Johnson 100-90

I thought Gorman ran out of ideas as well. I can see Gorman outboxing Dubois for a few rounds, especially given their styles. It seemed to me that Johnson was more apt to throw at Gorman than he was at Dubois, but that is probably due to the punching power difference. Gorman could've been more active and pressed the action a bit more.Rob3_142 wrote: ↑24 Mar 2019, 19:19I didn't learn a lot about Gorman, but what do you ever expect against a last minute stand in? He demonstrated decent movement, output, and variety. It was a solid performance without being exceptional.oogiebe wrote: ↑24 Mar 2019, 18:55I'm not saying it was a bad performance. Gorman did what he needed to do. I'm saying it wasn't an impressive or especially good performance. It didn't make me think Gorman was any better than I thought before. Did he show you that he was better than his past performances? Gorman couldn't find a way to approach his opponent differently at any time of the fight. He just seemed ok to let it go at Johnson's pace. Remember that Johnson had a lot more time to prepare for Dubois.Rob3_142 wrote: ↑24 Mar 2019, 18:48You make it sound like it was a bad performance.
Winning every single round of a fight is far from poor against an awkward opponent who has only ever been cleaned out once in 47 fights, and at very short notice. At least Dubois had a bit of time to prepare against Johnson.
What did I learn about Dubois about the same man? Well, that he has less shot variety, and if he doesn't get his man out of there with plan A, then he quickly runs out of ideas.
Dubois still beats Gorman, but I expect Gorman to outbox Dubois for the first half of the fight before being stopped.
